Which is understandable.

I don't expect, nor want to know the numbers. I don't have to see them to know that the userbase has dwindled though. I'm jus curious about how much time we have left here realistically. If GLB2 does what I expect it to do, which is split the base here and bring in fewer new users than they are hoping for, do I need to start running through my flex now?

Unfortunately, this issue has been largely ignored by anyone outside of Corndog.

I think Corndog's response means it's more of a question for the users than for admin. I've still got some first and 2nd season dots I plan on bringing to plateau, depends on how many others plan on doing the same. I guess the fun factor of GLB2 has a lot to do with that, if It's really fun I might look to thin my herd of youngsters.

tbh, that is precisely what they should have done, though. They neglected it for far too long and dwindled the user base, rather than building upon it. It is like letting your core business die while developing the next big thing. Ideally, you keep the old and add to it, which is a big reason GLB2 made no sense versus adding a game for a different sport.

Bad review because they wouldn't let you cater the GLB 2 launch? Seriously Foo? I didn't think you were that petty.

I couldn't agree more. I will never understand why they didn't create a game with any sport besides football. Seems like to me anyone who was interested in a football mmorpg would have found this one by now.

Oh that's not good news.

If the userbase is the deciding factor we're screwed. Without advertising, the base is only going to continue to dwindle. I know quite a few rookie teams who folded just at the announcement of GLB2. I had to kill all but one of my dots that were less than 3 seasons old because the teams I were on didn't want to continue investing in flex with an uncertain future.

That's a big increase in overhead for a game that may very well have run it's course. It's a niche game without broad based appeal, I like it, but I'm not most people.

We can debate whether or not GLB had the kind of growth potential needed to justify Bort hiring another crew, but obviously Bort didn't see it that way.

I'm comfortable playing a game that is some Portland rando's pet project that he may get bored with.

I'm comfortable playing as well. What I can't justify is continuing to pay for something someone has become bored with. I can't help but feeling I'm not the only one.

It is not a bad review of the game. I look forward to trying the game. It is a critique of how this game was handled.

Well, if they try to bring people into GLB2 it's possible some of them may find GLB1s setup a little more appealing.

The active userbase has actually grown a little since GLB2 announcement.

That would be great.

I wish I could point to some examples of them trying to bring in new people though.

If it was my business, the admins who are presumably paid to do almost nothing here would be marketing the game. I said it at the time, and I will repeat it now, after all that time in Beta, they could not have had a more anti-climactic launch out of it. I almost felt like they were ashamed of the game.

Are those new users? Or users like Dub J who rage quit and decided to come back?

I doubt it's new users, I honestly have no idea, maybe older users coming back.
