Originally posted by Bort The thing is that inbox is now shared between all games, so you can't as easily have game specific alerts any more. Not to mention they kinda just get lost for a lot of players.
And sending you 2 PMs for signing your own player is one of the things to remove cuz that's pretty pointless - you already know you signed your guy.
GLB2's model is to have important alerts show up as alert boxes on relevant pages instead of sending you PMs all the time (like "your player has a new contract" when you view a player, etc); I'd like to do more similar stuff on classic.
OK , so it was Bort's idea.

The Outbox tab is a gray tab next to Inbox. There is another Inbox tab on the row of tabs above it without an accompanying Outbox. Could that be where he is looking for it?
Would have been nice if old alerts were simply converted to messages so we didn't lose them or have to save them. Do I still need to have old alerts saved to keep them from disappearing?

Just did that to the inbox to clear the alerts, and it even erased my saved messages. See if you can go back in your browser and find them. If so, PMs never get deleted so you can copy the links and ask support to restore them. Alerts would get permanently deleted, though.

I tried it, but they were gone. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Noticed that afterwards, wished I'd seen that before

This actually isn't working for me.
At least it isn't separating out the private forum invite you sent me.
I dunno, how about making alerts a different color than normal PMs? Something to separate them.

Tried that and didn't work. I have one alert and when I chose the Alerts filter is shows nothing in inbox. When I choose the PM filter it shows them all including the alert - same as show all. But, a different color on alerts would help anyway.
