My suggestion, because what is a complaint without a solution of some sort? .. Force teams to pay for multiple seasons. If you want to own a team, then make them buy it for 3+ seasons. That won't stop the issue, but it will help.
This game is built around the hard core players. I know many casual players that do not have your problem because they at least took a small amount of time to make some GLB "friends" that understand that they are not hardcore but are still willing to give them a spot on a team. And you cannot blame the game for your laziness in not taking a few minutes to investigate a team before signing with them. It does not take a rocket scientist to weed out most bad teams. And most teams want people that they think will at least be somewhat active.
Forcing someone to buy 3 seasons is meaningless. Once you buy FP, you are never getting that money back, and I have seen plenty of agents just walk away when you know that they have tons of FP left. And every season, plenty of team owners just walk away
Seriously, you want the benefits of being an active player with the participation of a very casual player. Get real.

Check the owner 's profile to see if he has a history of owning boosted players on his team. It serves the same purpose as your suggestion (money committed that gets dinged if he flushes)
If he still packs up quits, maybe he's just found out he's allergic to tomatoes.
If you keep running people off Bort & Catch might have to change your name to 'TyphoidTomato' and pay you not to play.

Players want to build their players put them on a team, and watch the progress. 5 minutes a day, every 2-3 days. Most people don't want to scour forums looking for owner history etc... just to see if the team he/she might join is going to go down the toilet.

You can take my observation or leave it, doesn't matter to me, I am only pointing out a negative that will more than likely cause me to leave this game, and looking at what GLB is now compared to what is was in seasons 1-10 I think it needs as many players as it can get.

Are you just accepting the first offer that comes along? If so, that's your problem right there.
You don't need to spend hours and hours doing in-depth research on dozens of teams owners, but right now I'm guessing you're not doing any research at all. Find a happy medium, and be patient. When you make your marketplace ad, say in the ad that you're going to take 2 or 3 days to pick a team.
As offers come in, spend 1 or 2 minutes looking up the team's history. Really doesn't take long. If they yo-yo back and forth between good seasons and bad seasons, odds are they're one of the many teams that bounces back and forth between Competitive (where they kick ass) and Elite (where they get their ass kicked), and sooner or later a team like that is going to reset or fold. Decline their offer.
If you get offers from several teams that have a history of consistent success, send a quick PM to the team owner and ask a few questions about the team to make sure they're a good fit for you. If they make extravagant promises, I'd avoid them. If they write with the approximate skill of a 4-year-old, be wary. If they sound like they actually have some idea of what the fuck they're doing, keep them on your list.
After fielding offers for a couple of days, pick the best team and accept their offer.
And that's it! You're done! Should take 30 minutes of work, tops, spread out over 2 or 3 days.
If you're not even willing to put in 30 minutes to find a good long-term home for your dot, well, LOLU. Better get used to having to find a new home every season after your team resets. Again.
And this is why you need to be green. Frogs don't mess with their environment

Hey B1G, now that you signed him WR, sell the team at the end of the season, just to piss him off.
