for theory sake wouldn't FS give same acceleration boost if it was at 12.......

to a dot with 165 Speed and 40 agility that it would give...

to a dot with 165 Speed and 90 agility

?

the acceleration boost FS gives is the acceleration boost FS gives, no?

Straight line vs. zig zag...

I'm thinking this...

Burner = straight line ( no need for agility or minimal, waste of build if a straight burner )
Why would a burner need agility if they are moving in a straight pathed line?

Fake build = zig zag ( need for agility, but FS would still be beneficial )

Stop saying anything. Do you not realize that First Step can only fire when you're very close to stopped? So if you change direction, it doesn't matter how much agility you have, First Step isn't going to fire again unless you come almost to a complete stop again. There is no basis whatsoever for suggesting that there are agility minimums necessary for various amounts of First Step. The two things are completely independent.

you still need decent agility to get up to your top speed quickly otherwise the play will be over by the time you hit it

and you can zig zag all you want but most plays don't last long before the ball is passed, so a bunch of cuts occurring in front of the defender won't be as good as cuts that occur with the receiver step for step with the defender or slightly past him, which you'll get if FS fires off the line (only fires from dead stop), especially if you have decent agility to get that speed up to top level quicker

FS only fires when the dot is stopped and then begins to move. It helps you hit top speed much quicker. You generally want 10, maybe a couple more if it is favored. It doesn't fire every single snap and using it as a substitute for agility probably is not a great idea.

That is false. I have built extremely high speed / extremely low agility players specifically to test this common saying and it wasn't at all true. Agility absolutely does help you reach your top speed faster, but you'll still reach it only 5-10 yards later even with very low agility. While agility's effect on acceleration isn't that large, it has a very noticeable effect on maintaining that speed through cuts. The test players I referenced earlier dropped quite a lot of speed when asked to change direction by more than ~20 degrees.

No, the long and short of it is that if you want to know something then just PM me. Asking in GLB main or FAQ may get you the right answer and it may not.

What you are saying has no correlation between FS and agility. I am not even sure why you are still going on with this ridiculousness. You aren't ever building a guy for zig zags. Have you ever actually looked at the playbook?

Agility works well on routes in which you make cuts. It doesn't have anything to do with FS. First Step is a chance fire and only fires at a complete stop. JD's first answer of

is correct. You want the best chances of the actual SA firing all by itself. Agility doesn't help it.

Most plays in the passing game are literally built for straight line burners though. Long gone are the days where Ed Obrien works you on a short quick cut play over and over. The best plays are deep.

So based on this here jd, have you ever tried the high speed/low agility with Quick Cut to see the affect it can have at maintaining your speed while running something like a Flag or Post route (or anything with more than the approximate 20 degrees you mentioned?)
