Pass Deflection Defensive End:

34 deflections in a season seems sexy, until you notice that only 4 came in competitive games, and zero were in games that could determine the fate of the season.

Pass-Deflect D-line builds aren't worth what you give up in run stuffing ability. At 6'8", you'll get blowed off the line, and the best teams will trade the off-chance you'll deflect a pass (that a CB might have deflected or picked off anyhow) for the ability to average an extra YPC or more in your direction.

Tried Bull-Rushing and Evasive style builds from DE and DT. Niether made a big difference on deflections, and both get owned in the running game.140str or nearly 160str, you're gonna get blown off the ball if you're guy is 6'8", and you're gonna average about 1 deflection a game over thier pro career, fewer than half of which will be in games of relevance.

I've never had a pass deflecting DE, but did have a pass deflecting DT. It worked best with less speed, also functioned well even against WL passing. It also had more agility & vision, plus stacked VAs much different.

I tried all sorts of VA combos. They started off without any techman and -10agi/+10str on power rushing. I'd considered the path you're saying worked, with lower speed higher agi/vis. Looks like I guess wrong on the key attributes. My line of thinking was the additional speed would assist in closing the gap to the passer to get you in better position to be close enough to bat the ball while it was coming out of his hand.

I think the reason the lower speed worked was the O line dropped back on passing plays faster than my pass deflecting DT insuring he wasn't engaged in a block and therefore got a chance at a deflection. Conjecture of course, no way to prove or disprove such a thing.

Makes at least as much sense as my more speed for getting closer theory. Your results on your DTs are better than mine were, so I'd say that's the winning strategy.

Also did you try Long Reach VA?

Yeah, I'm not convinced on the 'pd d-line doesn't work' argument looking at a player with just 3 swat ball and 60 jumping.

First WR

I hadn't made too many offensive dots before. QB won a pro mvp for me and was 2nd twice in WL, was horrible in his last season. WR wasn't quite right but still played plateau mostly in WL.

All 4 AEQ dots

Combo HB: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=2473817&playoffs=0 - did ok but don't think many OCs are used to using combos much

DT: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=2473840&playoffs=0 - normal run stuffing sort

pass-arch C: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=2481273&playoffs=0 - figured I'd try one and worked pretty well. Didn't allow a whole lot of sacks or hurries, but then again didn't 'cake much either. All in all was happy with him.

FS: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=2481293&playoffs=0 - typical zone guy. Did fairly well in quite a few WL seasons

WR: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=2484254&playoffs=0 - didn't do much for me

CB: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=2505088&playoffs=0 - performed well as expected

Meh players, mostly boring to watch, I prefer hard hitters. these guys were made just to man up, or cover a zone, none could really catch so not many int's, when they did they mostly fell down and got tackled, didn't blitz much, didn't force fumbles. Just players to play defense. I 2 of them were in WL for like a season and performed moderately, otherwise they just slummed around in pro leagues. Which was fine with me, never really paid these dots much attention.

This dude was arguably the most balanced wr ever built, I imagined him to be a fake machine that was super fast and could catch everything and win rolls with his str/jumping combo, and the stamina to play all game at the highest level. Instead he was a scrub whose build needed fixing

Was going to give this guy another season, but the flex monster got him

Okay CB with a carreer 33% allowed to targeted ratio, played four seasons in National Pro (S28 with Word in Africa Pro, S32-33 with Miracle in Oceania Pro).
