I say speed is more important for pull blocks, but vision is pretty important too. The center is the anchor and supposed to call out the blitzes, but they usually have their hands full with NT's and DT's. That leaves a guard to assist in the presence of a blitzing linebacker or safety.

Where did I say they only block DL? I think you are assuming, because I said the dots they block aren't that far away you think i mean OL.

Yes, I did assume you meant DL. If not, my bad.

For a Guard? Blocking.

I would probably rank things like this.

OT -

1. Strength
2. Agility
3. Blocking
4-5 Vision/speed

OG -

1. Strength
2. Agility
3. Speed
4. Blocking
5. vision

C -

1. Strength
2. Agility
3. Blocking
4. zero cares

Actually, since Centers play LS on some teams and also pull on certain run plays, I'd say Speed for the 4th. Vision for the 5th.

The center never pulls. LS is irrelevant.

I'd have to agree. I can count on one hand the number of times I've actually seen the LS make a play. I still like my Centers to have some Speed, just because I prefer O-linemen who can move around, but yeah, if you're building your Center with his plays at LS in mind, you're doin' it wrong. Build him to be a good Center, not a good Long Snapper.

Id go vision as 4th, speed 5th. Vision is a major, get it 2nd capped and leave it be. Speed you will take further obviously.

You can put anyone at LS. It doesn't have to be a center.

Ya but I don't even take vision that high. So kinda a waste for me.

Yeah, on my current level 79 OGs they all have 74.1 vision. Wont go that high this time around. Stopping at 2nd cap.

Only thing that would make me hesitate is that Catch has confirmed there is an OOP penalty for a non-Center at LS. Won't matter on punts, of course, but it could matter on FGs and XPs... I forget who it was, but somebody recently posted that on almost every example of a blocked FG or XP they've found, a non-Center was playing LS.

But given how rare such blocks are anyway... eh, I'll just put a Center at LS anyway, but I won't call anyone stupid for putting a non-Center at LS if it makes sense with their personnel situation, whatever it may be.

I don't really get what you are arguing? We are talking about speed and you are arguing about FG's and XP's?

I'm responding to your point about who can play LS.

Not really arguing with you... in the end I agreed with you. I was just adding an extra data point to consider.

ITT bhall thinks I'm arguing with him when I actually agreed with him. Twice.
