Can you explain more clearly the step-by-step process of breaking a tackle (without SAs)? More specifically, I was wondering when and why "tackler dragging" occurs. Also, does the act of dragging and shedding dragged tacklers call on any specific attributes more heavily than the ones used in conventional break tackle rolls, like agility for "balance" or something like that? Any others?

Pt. 2: Do you think the Shed Weight VA is underrated?

Ooh, a non suggestion!

When a tackle happens, there's a rolloff between the ball carrier and the the tackler for their respective tackle and break tackle scores. The tackler has to beat the ball carrier's score to bring him down. The more he beats him by, the better the tackle, and the more the ball carrier is stopped, or he might even fumble. If the tackler barely loses to the ball carrier, he gets pulled into "getting dragged" mode. Then each successive tick, he gets to try another similar rolloff, with strength-based rolls. If he continues to roll well enough to hold on, the ball carrier gets his balance reduced (agility bonus to lose less) until he eventually falls down. If not, the ball carrier drops him.

I don't know how the Shed Weight VA tends to be rated, but maybe. Dragging happens pretty frequently, actually, even if for only 1 tick (which makes it pretty unnoticeable).

Remember that Tenacious does not give a 60% chance of extra yards. It gives a +60% chance. So if you had a 10% chance before, then with 15 Tenacious that becomes a 16% chance.

Good point.

That's good to remember about a LOT of VAs, actually -- including a lot of the ones people would probably want to put points into instead of Tenacious.

so you should use Tenacious in conjunction with Shed Weight, or likely not bother with either one?
or is tenacious, when it works, just an extra "leap" at the end of the play

They don't stack, and fire on different rolls...so maybe together to squeeze out a few yards every now and then?

is this like Dive 4 Yds? Something that seems to not give you that much for spending a lot in it?

thinking was: tenacious increases the chance to activate tackler dragging when it would otherwise be a tackle, and then shed weight comes into play.

or, like Sonic said, is Tenacious just a dive?

The way I understand it:

Tackle Roll vs Break Tackle Roll

If defender wins: tenacious or dive for yards can aid in squeezing out a few more. Think of this as taking a few steps on the way down, diving, getting second effort, etc.

If ball carrier wins:
Decent win: tackle broken
Small win: drag defender, each tick rolls for regaining balance.

Why did you use the plural? I'm pretty sure my post was the only one necessary in the thread.
