Forum > Suggestions > Mods and Admins - Place reasons for the thread lock

I for one would support this suggestion, when some users get their threads locked they think it's because a Moderator or Admin 'personally' doesn't like them or for another invalid reason. However If there was a valid reason STATED for the thread locking, discontent from the user would no longer exist in most cases and them knowing what they did wrong could also help to prevent them posting other dubious threads in the future.

Unless they're just a troll, then nothing can be done to save them

At least it shows who locked the thread now. Though I always thought they should post a reason, I think the system in place is a lot better. You can always PM the mod or message support if the mod doesn't answer. Usually you can guess why a thread is locked. I think people should just stop making new threads when theirs is locked.

Did you get 1/2 to 3/4 inches of ice before the foot of snow?

We didn't get slushy ice. Was freezing rain. Limbs were crashing down on power lines before the snow had even started.

I am with the Mods on this. We have forums for the activity that most of you complain about "getting locked" and that's where these "fun discussions" should be. The GLB MAIN is for GLB stuff and not for seeing how hard two mental cases can piss into the wind. GLB took pains to have forums just for that.
That said, I have seen some Mods lock a FAQ or a Suggestion and either not give any reason at all... or the classic NGTH... without so much as a "and this is why" statement... leaving some confused as TO why it got locked and not further discussed. I could support better reasons why things get locked... but it's not overly needed IMHO.

Luckily we get enough storms, that the limbs that are close to the power lines were already knocked down, or the state cut them down in the fall. The last couple of storms, we kept our power, but the first snow storm we lost power for 2 days.

Lines are not low, trees are just that tall.

We put in a sweet setup.
I have a genny that can power the entire house and it runs off the natural gas line.
Power goes out, Genny kicks in. No problem mon!

I've thought about stuff like that but it's a cost/occurrence situation.

I sort of agree with this suggestion I do not see it as a big deal for a Mod to take a second to post a explanation as to why a thread was being locked. or at the least posting what forum rule was violated. so +1 from me
