Nope, my peewee teams are not focused on peewee building. I created guides for long term builds in a PF and then copy/pasted them in the team forums. I also answer questions and make it very clear that peewee builds are not the same as long term builds. To sign them to a rookie team is pointless considering they will most likely be retiring those dots and starting over after the first season.

how is doing a rookie pointless... you just ask to be sent back every season and find a new team, but sure... I guess that works.
I think it'd be better to setup a system as a whole and have them force fed through it rather than left to their own devices. I don't think the current structure is as forgiving to first timers as it was 20+ seasons ago.

Chill out. I'm not against your suggestion (although based on my experience it wouldn't do as much as you think).
I merely stated that I'm using two peewee teams to help out new users. I've been doing this off and on for about the last 12 seasons or so.
I really don't think standing over someone's shoulder for 10 seasons telling them how to fix a dot that should have been retired 9 seasons ago is really very efficient or effective. Better to try and steer them in the right direction the first season and let them start over with a better dot imo.
New users completely destroy their first dot right off the bat (spreading SPs all over the place, dumping SPs into SAs, ect...). I just don't see how holding onto a dot that is ruined beyond repair for a year is going to help that user.
Then you have to take into account 99.9999% of new users don't want any advice nor are they going to check out the forums or even read a guide that is right there in their face. I only do this in hopes of helping out one or two people that actually care enough to learn anything. Out of all the teams and all the seasons I've done this I can probably count on one hand the newbies that have been receptive. That's why I sometimes take a season off from doing it.
Most of the people that are willing to help out have already been doing so for a long time. I honestly question the motives of people jumping on the wagon to help out if that suggestion was implemented.

you could be doing that same thing with rookie teams though. using the free dot, boost on day 48 like you should and then learning. that extra 18 SPs changes everything.
yes you can just play peewee and then continue, but do people really do that? seems more efficient to teach in rookie and reset/remake dots every off season until you understand how to start off a dot efficiently.
im all for whatever helps newer players though. Could use a bigger user base. They'll suck for a few seasons but then it'll be freaking awesome.

to dubs defense, when i first started i never read a single forum, rarely interacted with the owner, and just winged my build. luckily it was a kicker so i got to the african pro league with him, but the majority of new people wouldn't build a kicker. the temptation to just build off of common sense and try to build an all around player off the bat is too much to resist. I'd would even go as far as to say they should keep sa's locked until you reach a certain level like va's to help out.

I'm more referring to a guide that doesn't force them to partake... but if they choose to, they benefit greatly by having a partially upgraded custom item for their venture through the guide. It's probably pointless and not something that'll ever be implemented. So pointless for me to even speculate.
I do think creating a group of veteran players who have shown some sort of willingness to not only be open about the building process and development, but competent at it for the highest levels of the game. I realize people may not want advice, but you can only lead a horse to water. If you provide them a PM when they sign up listing who and how to contact and perhaps even give them access to a game ran rookie team (just forum access, obviously not AI) you could solve a lot of problems... early on.

My point is...why keep the first dot? No, they won't suck for a few seasons and then be awesome. They will suck for over a year. That extra 18 SP is nothing considering they have just pissed away at least 36.
I think a better idea is just block new users from purchasing CE the first 30 days after they sign up.

But yeah... letting people fuck around and learn from their mistakes takes time and the key problem is people are fucking stubborn. It's hard enough to get people to realize the power of Algebra, let alone tell them how important math is for a fucking football sim.

Don't get me wrong, I really have no problem with your suggestion. It's just that if you're looking for the WL crowd to help new users you're pretty much barking up the wrong tree. If you think users outside WL can't help new users then you're mistaken.

I think there are plenty of WL people who are willing to help. Nothing is really sacred anymore.
It's all about scheme and stacks and the like...
And honestly, I have read enough of the FAQ forums to know that some people should just keep quiet because they're sending people in the entirely wrong direction.
As for myself... I've always answered a PM about build ideas/theory/SAs/VAs etc etc no matter who it is (and often from people I've never spoken with before) And I'm sure you've gotten way more than I have, but the point is... there are "successful" builders in the WL who are willing to help. I know I'm not alone. The BAF is proof of that.

i mean, they retire them after one season just like peewee.
but honestly, it doesnt matter. GLB wont ever put in a system to help new users. Its going to be the same people here until the game gets shut down or we run out of flex which could take forever since mine doesnt seem to ever go anywhere.

New users should be steered in the right direction then at some point left to discover things independently. I just don't understand the need to have new users under the direction of one person indefinitely.

Not true. I played in PeeWees for several seasons when I first signed. I KNEW I wasn't gonna build killer dots right out of the gate and wanted to spend my first seasons learning stuff. Found a great teacher and he even let me coach after a couple of seasons. I guess I spent about 5-10 seasons doing all of that before I ever built a dot beyond PeeWee. And, as the OP suggested... it STILL took me even more seasons to re-figure out after all the changes... then more changes... then more changes....
At least now I don't get confused when they change stuff. Back then I'd spend a couple of hours reading... cussing... being angry... breaking my keyboard... buying a new one... and recycling my dots to start all over again... and again... and again. Haven't had to do that for a long time now.
