the biggest issue i see is that if you give mentors anything, people will sign up just to get the benefit. secondly, how do you guarantee that the mentor actually knows what they are doing? can you imagine asking for a mentor, and getting...................yello?

You know the way the place is ran that yello would definitely get a mentor spot. Just look at some of the people they have appointed mod. lol

you'd need some kind of double ranking (1-10, weeding out out the top and bottom 10% of rankings.

1) general consensus from the peanut gallery about whether the mentor was knowledgeable
2) each mentor would need to be graded by how well they actually mentored.

Problem with that is you can work your ass off and use flawless methods to teach new agents and still not turn any of them around. Not sure how you grade that.

true, so the agent ranking of the mentor might have to be more based on helpfulness more than agent success. ask the agent a series of questions like did the mentor offer help, was it timely, etc. when my nephew started playing, i always had to help him find teams because his players were not good. we were together for a holiday and i tried to explain ALGs to him so that his players would be better. he said that it was stupid and game up on glb. i did my job as his mentor, but the game just wasnt his cup of tea.

Every time I would get about 25-40 new users to join us. I would post all kinds of guides and create all kinds of threads trying to spark discussion about game mechanics and such.

Out of 100+ of these new users only 1 bothered to learn anything and he didn't stick around for long. What I discovered was if a new user wants to learn this game he/she will. If they don't really care, there's nothing you can do to change that.

so you're saying that you personally chased more than 100 new users away from the game...

I could have saved a lot of time and money had I met you season 1

Nah, I worked very hard to get them hooked on this game. Trust me when I say I didn't post in those forums like I do these.

...yeah, of course networks would be trying to exploit this mentoring thing ...but instead of having a mentoring button, why not have a network button and give new agents a choice of joining up to networks like how dots can get sent invitations on request to join teams ...or maybe we could have a mentoring button also?!?

Wasn't this suggested once, i could have sworn I said networks would be all for this idea, snatching up all the new players right off the bat.

That's really the source of my angst. I feel as if I've personally worked much harder (as a paying customer) to make this game better and promote it than the people that make this their livelihood.

one reason that you wouldn't be given a network button to where you could just join a network. is because alot of networks have processes in place to become a member.
