Just looking at WL sack leaders it looks to be way down from last season (only LBs) right now there are 2 LBs in the top 10 in sacks and none in the top 10 for hurries.
Yes yes that is a result of not being blitzed much but DCs adapted to the changes and realized LB blitzing is down. The season before it was pretty dang high sack count for LB and easy for LBs to get sacks too.
With what the OP had in mind, it would make blitzing relevant for LBs again but not over do it. This way they have a fairly good chance of getting past the blocker but the QB isn't vulnerable all the time

Yeah, they can still attempt tackles when in range, they just don't make instant course corrections like they used to.

Also, I figured out the trick on LB Blitzing - Have them in man coverage on a really slow RB.
