That was the final game though. Maybe you're confused because you played us the last 2 games and thought it was 2 out of 3? After the first loss, I went to the 1-loss bracket and had to beat the Bengals for the right to play you again.

I've always thought in a double elimination tourney the team in the winning bracket had to lose twice.

Not in the ones on TV, they just set up a championship game like we had.. In theory, your advantage would be more time to rest, although that isn't a big deal here.

That's not true. Look at this year's College World Series in Bracket 2: http://www.ncaa.com/brackets/baseball/d1 . Arkansas was in the winners bracket so South Carolina had to beat them twice to advance to the finals against the bracket 1 winner.

I've played a lot of tournaments in my life, and every single double elimination tourney had the loser's bracket team having to win twice. I assumed this was the same, so my bad. I'm upset, though, because I coached this game like they had to beat us twice...if I knew it was loser take all I would have done things very differently.
If that's the ruling, then that's the ruling...so be it. I'd strongly recommend that you clearly outline that in future descriptions, however, because that defies logic and what most people think of when you say double elimination.

I actually did the opposite - I gameplanned for our first meeting (or rather - didn't gameplan at all) thinking that the game didn't matter much because I'd have to play you guys again. Well, that and there was very little to gameplan with since you guys beat everyone in your silver league by 100 points. lol
I'm going to accept the match request. If jkid wants to allow it or not, that's up to him. I personally don't mind having a winner takes all game. It makes sense to me that you or I would have to lose 2x to be eliminated, like every other team in the tournament.

Doubt if they will hand trophies out for this anyways so it would just be for piece of mind.

Exactly why I don't want to run it anymore, they won't give trophies or support a tourney like this.
