I've played a lot of tournaments in my life, and every single double elimination tourney had the loser's bracket team having to win twice. I assumed this was the same, so my bad. I'm upset, though, because I coached this game like they had to beat us twice...if I knew it was loser take all I would have done things very differently.
If that's the ruling, then that's the ruling...so be it. I'd strongly recommend that you clearly outline that in future descriptions, however, because that defies logic and what most people think of when you say double elimination.
