It does work that way. The site would have to have a different set of Javascript for each of the major browsers.

Suggestion to the suggestion then? GLB needs a place (forum that is locked only to mods for updating) where (links to) scripts are easily available to anyone... old timer or noob. As a service to your customers. Somewhat solves the OP... while still simi-accomplishing the idea behind it.

If we want it to run in IE, FF, Safari and Chrome, there is a real strong chance that four different versions of the same script need to be written so that we get the same functionality in each of the different browsers. (Chances are that FF and Chrome would interpret the Javascript in the same way).

So while it seems easy enough to "Implement a few of the most popular Greasemonkey scripts", you can see where that quickly becomes a versioning nightmare as each of the four major browsers are on their own development and release cycle. Not to mention the lesser browsers (such as the one on Kindle Fire), huge testing burden there - and we know how good GLB is at testing

Peace,

It's not even that, it's that it is just adding even more clutter and features to a site that already has way too much clutter and features.

If people want to use the scripts, they can easily just install them or they can choose to install only a couple...compared to just bloating the site for EVERY user.

I mean, I don't use a single script listed in the OP.

That is a terrible reason for not giving your customers an entire product instead of a half assed product that the customer has to adapt themselves with outside scripts. You're essentially saying its too much work. What a shitty excuse and terrible reason.

This. We have grown accustomed to these kind of responses from GLB. The mass exodus the last five seasons was the response. This game is rather unique and has no direct competitors so they can have the high price tag without having a truly polished and complete product. I often compare GLB to my cable company. They can do whatever they want and charge whatever they want because they have no true competitors, I am always searching for a viable alternative and when one comes goodbye cable. It is a bad way to do business though and will come back to bite them in the ass someday.

1 and 2 are a must, the others are more just suggested. Some of the others mentioned in this thread are solid alternatives. 3-5 are more to make things more user friendly and I believe could be done without cluttering anything.

Many of those scripts are not up to date and some of us can not always use firefox as a browser, for me it crashes hard on one of my computers.

Let's admit it. GLB is an ambitious and rather complicated project, perhaps more so than originally anticipated. While I have faith that the finished product will satisfy most of our concerns, not everything can be done quickly enough for our tastes. If anything, (and I don't really know...) I would guess that GLB programming is a bit understaffed (no offense, guys). For problems like Fish mentioned, man-hours are a realistic problem when considering the list of projects already on the agenda.

So, like Osiris, I say place the most valuable and essential scripts on the front-burner, and all the others on the back-burner. It shows progress, and will create a better product. That's basically what we all want, including Admin: a better product. Unlike some, I won't say it's bad. I haven't been here for many of the changes made. I can't really compare. I like GLB as it is, but looking at it from a business standpoint, I do think it needs to be better, especially for hooking new agents.

Now, if that means adapting certain elements to work under multiple browsers, well....that's something that simply has to be dealt with. It's the nature of the business. Ignoring it will only shoot GLB in the foot. So adapt the best you can, and deal with the rest when you can. But having certain elements of the game - user generated or otherwise - restricted to certain browser(s) ultimately reduced the potential customer base of the website. Adaptation actually expands the potential customer base as more noobs have access to key tools used with the website.

IMHO
