As an owner of a Casual team, you only get out what you put into it. It can be a good warm up for joining a regular league. If you show interest, knowledge, and some intelligence, you can recruit some very good dots. There is a lot of scouting and analysis you can do to make your team successful. When moving up to regular, you will most likely have to do that same analysis if you want to be competitive. Meanwhile, it can help you learn which plays work with which types of dots. That can help you set up a design the offense you want in a regular league. And so on.
The way I see it, Casual is only boring if a) you're lazy, or b) you belong in a regular league. That said, I wish there was some better competition within my league. I've only faced one tough team all season. I'll probably face them again in the conference championship....and then probably face another tough team for the league championship. Three tougher games against only two tough teams. That's a little soft for my taste.

Back before the DPC and custom slots you didn't need to spend all that much time gameplanning. It was pretty much just basic tactics on steroids.
My memory sucks but I was here for that I just cant fucking remember what it was like.

I started here late S3 and that's what we had when I first started coordinating. I much preferred that over what we have now in the regulars and it was leaps and bounds over what is now casual.

There was still oai and dai. The offense play selection was very minimal tho and most gameplanning could be done via a script.

That's what I'm talking about. I would have preferred they went that route for casual rather than basic tactics.

Both leagues are boring as fuck. The game is boring.
casual less boring. more randomness, less effort, more fun.

Personally I think that is the route regular needs to go in order to possibly drum up extra coordinators. Minimize the playbook per team and take out the dpc. Reduce most of the custom slotting on both sides.
