The realism poll showed that was what the vast majority of people wanted-- realism or "weighted toward realism." Only a very few people said they don't care about realism. http://goallineblitz.com/game/poll.pl?poll_id=9 . Out of over 18,000 in the poll, only 1,119 said they didn't care about realism. A much, much bigger number of 8,380 wanted "the most realism possible" and most of the rest wanted things "weighted toward realism" (so they were okay with things like no injuries, but mostly wanted realism).
I'm basically for letting Super-Elusive work for returners. I just want the testers to make sure it wouldn't bring back the ridiculous return stats we used to see. I don't think it would bring them back with the new, more difficult blocking, but I just think that does need to be tested.
That poll is so outdated as to be useless. Add to that the fact that GLB has never been great at making polls with clear language that aren't already set up to get the result they want to see. On top of that the fact is that the user base now versus then has greatly contracted and that the game is in a vastly different state user-wise and I am fairly certain that if that same poll was made right now the results would be completely different.
Realism happens, in real life. This is a game, stats should be fun for everyone not just people who build QBs and HBs.

Everyone's for as many people as possible having fun. You are; I am; and so is everyone else.
The question is over what is fun, and IMO and in that of most of the many people polled, a realistic football sim is what is fun.
A key factor is that to give one player stats takes away from other players. If returns were made too powerful (which I don't think this idea would do; my entire difference with others on this issue is just that I want testing to be sure first, testing that I think would lead to the idea being implemented), but if they were made too powerful that's unfair to coverage STOPs.
If there really were too many complete passes-- which I don't think there are-- that would be unfair to those in coverage.
The whole fun of the game to me is creating a player I'd like to see play football, and then watching him when possible. I'd watch every one of my players if they'd just implement the long-time suggestion of letting someone watch just the plays his player was in (or a highlights page, with all the significant plays). As it is, I have players who are the only one of mine on their teams that I don't watch, but who I hope to get on teams with others of my players so that I can.
And ideally stats could be compared with NFL/NCAA stats so one could see how well one was doing in a football context.
You're big on a "no trophies just for playing" philosophy, and I agree with that in many ways...but that includes "no great stats due to unrealistic sim mechanics." TPat had it right in the quote in my sig.

agreed...no one at least on STs is having fun now. going to be less than 5 return TDs in WL this season...and not sure how that makes the game better. last season in NFL there were 30...I think that is what we are looking for...

Agreed, as long as this doesn't make PR TDs go back to 50 a season per PR.
Fully agreed with both of you. Chicago's point is a large part of why I +1'd the suggestion, and Jetsown's point is why I called for testing before implementation to make sure it doesn't make returns too easy. I think it will be fine, but also think we should be sure.

I'm fairly sure people are confusing the lack of spin's bonus from super elusive with super elusive not working.
Could be wrong I guess.

.
pretty big difference between the average NFL stats and average NCAAF stats, even given the former play 20 percent longer each game. GLB stats seem much more like college, complete with the obligatory mismatches, yet only GLB has 255-0 scores, and in those game usually half or more are kick and punt returns.
In reality a team in that kind of lopside game is NOT going to punt it to the return guy and let him run them back 10-15 times in a game. Would just never happen. GLB needs something in the sim that tells the punter to kick it out of bounds after 2 or 3 PR TDs have been scored, if not in every situation where the matchup LOLbars are way off

Does it really matter in 255-0 games what the sim does. These games should be ignored...they are mismatches...imo the games should just be forfeited so they do not confuse analysis of statistics and analysis of the current state of the sim.

Well, to deal with those, they should offer more blowout-adjusted stats in more places so we can see what's really happening, although WL stats do pretty well at showing the state of the sim, at least at the top level, because there don't seem to be such huge blowouts in the WL.

Except the blowout adjusted stats also cloud analysis of the statistics because the blowout adjustments are not really very accurate for all stats (especially averages).
I do agree WL is the best place to truly judge the sim except Catch tends to use the excuse "Very difficult at WL level due to the quality of builds and coordinators, which is the way it should be." So if something is not working at WL level...it shouldn't work because the builds are so strong (STs).
