As an option, ok i guess.

However people are also talking about within this suggestion that owners be able to assign players numbers if they don't do so. That has been brought up before and shot down by bort. He does not want owners of teams having any control over players (even for something so trivial as a jersey number). Maybe he has changed his mind but that has typically been his expressed view.

You will always have players who just don't care/think of it/know about it and you will end up with a field displaying a bunch of 0's.

On a pretty active team with participating agents, we have 23 out of 55 with no jersey number. Adding it to the pbp isn't likely to make many of them bother picking a number.

This is just one of those suggestions that doesn't hurt anything as an option, but one that isn't likely to be used much. I know i would never turn the option on. Takes enough time keeping track of people's names, not going to try to memorize jersey numbers that could be changed at a whim.

Would like to have this as an option as well, instead of simply the typical position of the dot. So rather have WR or HB on the dot, there would be an option to toggle Position or Jersey Number.

This would also make it useful to create numbers for dots, where many are stuck at #0, making the jersey number option basically an after-thought.

Make jersey numbers purposeful or at least useful, this would do that in my opinion.

I'm not trolling. Go ahead and look at some team rosters to get an idea of how many people give a shit about player numbers. It's not that I care one way or another about the OPTION to do this. It's just I think it would be silly for Bort or any other admin to waste time on this when it's obviously something the userbase doesn't care about given all the #0s out there. Would like to see pretty much everything else that has already been in epic or brought up for a vote implemented before numbers on replays.

IMO the reason why there are so many 0's out there is because having a player number has no meaning. The only way it means anything to anyone is if they love Ray Lewis & want 52 for their LB or 16 for their QB for Montana or something like that. But even that is fulfilling because the number only shows up on your home page or if someone looks at the roster. People that don't have numbers don't do it because there is no value in doing it or they really don't care. Giving numbers some value would take care of the first set & the 2nd group doesn't care anyways so they can be auto-assigned.

From a gameplay perspective, IMO it would add interest to actually watching games, which is something GLB should strive for. As an OC, I'd love to "see" shifts in my O-line without looking over at the sidebar all the time. I'd want to see the way WRs are shifting between slots, etc.

Numbers are important in football - GLB needs to make it an option!

+1 I like it as an option, also put the numbers next to the names on the sidebars during replays.

I do have to ask how many other people out there feel like it's bad luck to not have a player number. Maybe it's just me but I can't open my player's page and see that "0" next to their name and not do anything about it.

I think that's ridiculous, tbh. If someone doesn't watch replays to see how their dot performs, putting a little number on the dot is going to make no difference.

well now its just the position so if they don't pick a # then have it keep the Position... can't be too hard...

+1, but only if it's an option, and only if a number is assigned to a player at the beginning of every season unless they request a specific number during the pre-season.
That way people who care about numbers can get them, and those who don't will randomly get a number assigned to them that is position relevant.

the answer from the higher ups is that this is still very low priority, and unlikely to happen in the near future.
