Owning teams is a pain in the ass, and GLB needs owners for dots. Slash the number of owners and you see mass retirements for dots that can't find teams.

Need to stop allowing teams to promote/ disband drop.

That is what has ruined the forums and most of the leagues; perpetual team movement.

If teams were not allowed to "move" then rivalries would remain as well as a lot of the board activity.

Owning a team would be a bit different than it is today. if you are a first time owner you have to "buy in" at the lower leagues. If you have success and want to move up you can get on a "wait list" for the next level or two for an owner to drop their team.

But the key is the team doesn't move. The team you owned stays in it's conf/division and the team you are buying stays in its conf/div.

When GLB was young there wasn't alot of movement in the teams. People looked forward to trying to take down an Alpine, Benito, etc. Teams didn't "reset" and disappear for 6 seasons just to re-emerge and if you were really bad those Gms and owners just "disappeared".

Doing the above would help greatly; yeah some owners will get all pissy about it but in the end t would be better for the game.

gotta find a way to keep rivalries alive.

ATKM and Oakland Suppressors have a nice little rivalry going.
Of course, KoB always wins when it actually matters, and he does disappear off to WL occasionally, but even so ...

Rivalries were big. We love playing teams like Nashville, Oakland, Tennessee, Aggies, etc along with a few up in WL as there is a long history.

Wise hit it with too many pro leagues. Make it a big deal to be in pro, like it used to be. The last 4 or so teams in each pro league are a joke and have no business being there. To win in pro by over 100 points should not happen as it is a clear indication that things are too watered down.

WL is always a big deal of course. 6 pro leagues and have only 6 WL teams demote from each conf as the 9-10 seeds are usually as good as the 8 seed but lose on a tie-breaker.

Don't penalize owners; rather lower the cost of teams and make it easy to own a team, but limit the number of teams and make it special to own.
Also, institute a change in the mechanics of the game where builds matter more and not just coordinators. Right now coordinators dictate 80% of the outcome. Should be 40-50% which still make upsets possible but as it is, the best coordinators are worth gold and nothing else really matters.

This is the key. I do think, though, that the game does encourage rivalries as you move up the ladder. The problem is, teams split up once they reach the National Pro level.

We had some solid rivalries going as we move up the minor league b/c almost every season the same bunch of squads would be in elite together. But then we all hit pro and everyone went their separate ways.

So the over and over of retooling of how dots are built have no blame in the demise of pro leagues and of rivalries...

Thanks Barf, you've made most agent's minds numb and not by beer and weed alone.

Not sure about the owner movement options, how that would best be handled. But yes this basically.

If GLB would stop using the NFL as a template and only have 24 or 16 teams (or less if need be) in one league, then garbage teams wouldn't be in the Pro leagues wasting everyone's time (included their own). I have suggested it before and people thought it was a great idea. I think it was shoveled into the corner with all the other great ideas people have come up with....so whatever.

Clearly its better to have dumb 24 team leagues throughout the game as a stopgap, than it is to reduce the number of pro leagues like a reasonable person would.

8 feeding into 1 is just retarded...

Right now, I think GLB is absolutely perfect, and I would not change a thing.
