There have been so many good suggestions for changing the league structure and either eliminating or increasing cross-conference games. Why do we keep coming back to the one that fails basic logic? Is it because there are people who think, "gee, I don't like the interconference game. (lightbulb) I know! we'll just add another team to each conference!" without actually taking the thought to its conclusion? This is how we end up with teenage pregnancies, people!

that's funny right there

were as i don't like the suggestion

A plays B day 1
A plays C day 3
A plays D day 5
A plays E day 7
A plays F day 9
A plays G day 11
A plays H day 13
A has a BYE day 15
A plays I day 16
A plays J day 18
A plays K day 20
A plays L day 22
A plays M day 24
A plays N day 26
A plays O day 28
A plays P day 30
A plays Q day 32

wouldnt 3 day byes, instead of 4 day byes work out? nine teams start on even days, eight on odd days and than points in the season switch. keep 8 playoff teams. one conference has 9 on even the other conference has 8 on even and visa versa for odd, so the league would sim 17 games per league every day, rather than 32 games per league every other day. thats probably not a major difference in our sim engine.

i didnt do the math all the way out, but in theory i think i'm right

pros
consolidation, if you believe consolidation leads to more activity
fair schedule
bye weeks, could be great breathe of air for busy GMs
might lead to more inter conference scrimmages, more money for glb

cons
bye weeks, may lead to inactivity
might lead to less rivalries, if you get put in opposite conferences there would be 0 chance of a meaningful game, shy of the chip
consolidation, less teams to buy with less leagues, less homes for players

OR

make the season 34 days, and limit the playoff to 6 teams. its not like 7 and 8 do anything in the playoffs anyway.

-1, there have been instances where the 7 or 8 seed has won the league championship

Would rather see 14 team conferences with 3 inter league matchups.

Less teams = Less CPU = more competition and rivalries.

I think that was what I was trying for in my first ramblings.

Better idea:

Have the non-conference game during Week 17 instead of Week 1, as it was in the early days of GLB.

Set that game to be based on conference standings through the first 16 weeks--the two first-place teams play, the two second-place teams, etc.

She has the better idea...

6 team playoff is NGTH

3 teams will come out of the first 3 games... Can't be a 3 Team game... This isn't wrestling, there is no triple threats

why was this mistake dredged up? It was shown 17 week or 17 team conferences don't work. If people want to just move the cross conference game to week 16, should make a different suggestion.

Might as well allow teams to leave and join new conferences like College

-1, however, I do think that conference record should be the first tiebreaker, then head-to-head to eliminate some of the influence of that first game
