I apologize in advance if my TE makes anyone's LB look bad.

Thanks for the write-up! SEXY will attempt to prove you wrong. The 72 point loss was due to bad scouting and bad AI as we got housed by the goalline set all game, pretty weak but that's GLB for ya. Everyone have a great season!

Best to you Josh and seriously, I hope you succeed. It was a long road here and you are one of GLB's finest

One week down and the Western Conference comes out on top with 9 wins to Easterns 7. There were some close games but right off the bat some of the preseason favorites just decimated their opponents to set the tone for their seasons. Not much will change in my rankings this week since it was intraconference play and I'll want to see how teams handle games in their own conferences before making any drastic changes.

WEEK 1 RANKINGS (R = APL rookies this season, WL = i'm sure you can figure it out)
WESTERN
1 Monmouth Evil Monkeys (1-0)
MEM put on a defensive clinic against ACA as they held them to a mere 3 points while winning the turnover battle thanks to 3 INTS. Both teams had protection issues but it wasn't enough to keep this one close. Next up for MEM are the Bay Area Bombers - a team they bounced out of the playoffs last season.

2 American Terrorists (1-0)
An easy opening game gives the Terrorists a huge win as they exploded all over SEXY. That running back committee is looking scary right now and with a light schedule the next few weeks all 3 of them could be closing in on, if not surpassing, 500 yards rushing by the end of week 3.

3 South Georgia Growl (1-0WL)
22 minutes into their game the Growl were down 6-10 and looked to be in a fight. Then they blew up for the games next 48 points to walk way with a blowout win. Defense played lights out forcing 7 turnovers and next week looks like more of the same.

4 Tulsa Storm (1-0)
Took a 41-0 lead into halftime and never looked back. If they keep playing this way they could find the next few weeks to go rather easily.

5 Covington Black Knights (0-1)
Tough draw for week 1 and the results on the field weren't good. This is a game Covington will want to forget immediately. They should bounce back quickly though.

6 Bay Area Bombers (1-0)
Tempted to slide BAB up a notch but the fact that the Knights lost to a top team while BAB beat a team I assumed they would beat easily means I'll be keeping things the same for now. Great defensive game for the Bombers as they forced bad throws and shut down the Bears run game. Can they do the same next week against better opposition?

7 Newfoundland Penguins (1-0)
Solid win over a good team to get the season off to a good start. Kept Oakland off the scoreboard until the 4th quarter behind a strong defense that seemed to have an answer for everything Oakland tried throwing at them.

8 Canton Bulldogs (1-0)
Canton seemed to be trying to give this one away as they threw 3 INTs and lost a fumble. They went into halftime up 10-3 and then gave up the next 10 points to the Outlaws before scoring a FG to head into the 4th Q all tied up at 13. Canton retook the lead early in the 4th but with 1 second left in regulation the Outlaws nailed a 48 yd FG to take it into OT. Canton got the ball first and had driven the ball downfield just outside TOAs redzone when QB Fleur threw a pick in the endzone. Luckily the defense bailed them out and Canton managed to hit the game winning FG with just under 3 minutes remaining in the 5th Q. A hard fought win for the Bulldogs with all the turnovers.

9 American Predators (0-1)
The Preds offense couldn't keep up with Wala Wala even as their defense kept holding the Shriners to FG after FG after FG through the 2nd quarter. The passing attack was largely lacking with a 19% completion rating and they'll need to get that worked out quickly.

10 5th Masterminds (0-1R)
After putting up the games first 3 points the Masterminds were kept of the scoreboard until they hit another FG in the 3rd Q. That would be the last time this team would score today on their way to a 6-23 loss. They'll have to keep the turnovers down next time around.

11 Stormwind City Gryphons (0-1R)
Nothing to say about that first game. Shutout loss to a top ranked team. Better luck next week.

12 Sin City Spoilers (0-1R)
Shutout for 3 quarters until they hit 2 FGs in the 4th but by then it was already over. I'm thinking next week will go even worse.

13 Arkham Asylum Jokers (0-1)
That week 1 game was nothing to laugh about as the Jokers got dismembered by the Aggies.

14 Wisconsin Rapids Red Raiders (0-1R)
Drawing a former WL team in week 1 is painful enough but when your roster is a mix of dots from level 50-70+ it's a recipe for disaster.

15 North Texas Timberwolves (1-0R)
Had to dig deep to overcome 3 turnovers and an offense that only held the ball for just under 20 minutes. Had a great 2nd Q that saw them take the lead 21-10 but the Eagles made a game out of it and closed the gap late in the 4th to make it 26-28 game in favor of the 'Wolves. The Texans managed to hit another FG in the last minute of the game to seal up the win though. Contemplated moving NT up a spot or two but the truth is that they beat my 16th ranked team in Eastern while most teams ranked higher lost to some of the best Eastern teams. With a tough schedule the next few weeks this team can prove if it's worthy of moving up or not.

16 Vancouver Lions (1-0R)
The Lions were down 10-7 early but managed to take the lead before halftime when TE3 broke loose on a screen play for a 36 yd TD. A pick 6 in the 3rd Q cost them the lead again though and heading into the 4th they were down 14-17. Halfway through the 4th they were able to finally tie it up on a FG. On Denvers next drive the defense made a great stand and stopped Denver on the Lions 33 yd line after an over 5 minute drive left just over a minute on the clock. Denver missed the 50 yd FG attempt to open the door for the Lions and they did not disappoint as they drove the ball to Denvers 23 yd line in under a minute and hit the go ahead FG. With 14 seconds left Denver inexplicably opted to go for a 97 yd FG attempt instead of tossing a hail mary attempt which allowed the Lions to score a garbage time TD with time expiring. Great win for this team.

EASTERN
1 Black Ops 7 (1-0)
That week 1 performance is just the way you expect a team ranked this highly to kick things off. Week 3 can not come fast enough for me as I look forward to watching this team square off with the Mice.

2 All The King's Men (1-0WL)
Easy blowout win as the King's Men piled up close to 1,300 yards of offense. Next week shouldn't be much tougher.

3 South Otto Fragile Porcelain Mice (1-0)
Week 1 couldn't have gone any easier for the Mice as they just let their HBs handle the majority of the workload while the defense worked it's magic.

4 College Station Aggies (1-0)
Ho-hum matchup to open up the season and the Aggies look like they're on the easy path to a 4-0 start.

5 Nashville Hounds (0-1)
Turnovers kill and while the Hounds 3 INTs and 2 lost fumbles surely didn't help them it's going to take a better all around performance from the players to turn it around. Luckily the next few weeks give them a lot of time to get back on track.

6 Atlantic City Affliction (0-1)
The struggles on the OL are the main story here as ACA gave up 20 hurries and 7 sacks in a game that saw their QBs throw 3 picks. The run game never really got going which could have been a mistake considering HB Winkles 10 ypc average. Things could get worse next week with the Mice coming to town too.

7 Oakland Suppressors (0-1)
Not the way Oakland wanted to kick off the season but the good news is that the schedule doesn't look bad at all the next few weeks.

8 Wala Wala Drunken Shriners (1-0)
All I can say is get that kicker an extension because for 15 minutes it looked like "The Foot" was going to turn in most of the offense today. The rest of the offense did do its parts as well but great job by the kicker to keep the points piling up to make things impossible for the Preds to overcome in the second half.

9 Punxsutawney Groundhogs (1-0)
A solid if unspectacular start to the season as they got just enough out of the offense while the defense held the Masterminds to 2 FGs. Next week should prove to be an interesting match-up.

10 The Outlaw Assassins (0-1)
TOA had numerous opportunities to take advantage of Canton's mistakes but they only managed to capitalize on one of Cantons 4 turnovers. That was more than enough to send this game into OT though where again the Outlaws failed to capitalize when the defense came up with a game saving turnover in the endzone to get the ball back in their offenses hands. Was a hell of a game but one I'm sure the Assassins wish they had managed to pull out with all the turnovers they forced.

11 Denver Giant 9'ers (0-1R)
Not a great start to the season as the 9'ers fell to my 16th ranked Western team in a game that saw them fail to capitalize on a late FG attempt to take the lead and then also go for a 97 yd FG attempt when running a hail mary and praying would have had better odds. Tough loss for this team and now they get the Aggies next week in what will surely be a massacre.

12 Las Vegas Gold Diggers (1-0R)
Good win for LV but the competition leaves a little to be desired. Let's see how they handle the Hounds next week.

13 Gulf Coast Crocs (0-1R)
The Crocs kept it close after 22 minutes but they couldn't keep it together and Growl just went to town on them. Admirable effort and the next 2 match ups should be a little easier but by no means guaranteed wins.

14 Philadelphia SEXY Demonik (0-1R)
To say nothing went right for Philly in week 1 would be an understatement as they were manhandled by AT. The next 2 weeks are looking like huge losses as well so things aren't going to be pretty in Philly for awhile.

15 Chicago Bears 85 (0-1R)
Good job hanging in there through the first half but the Bears just could not keep up in the second half as they gave up 55 unanswered points.

16 Minnesota Eagles (0-1)
Good effort put out by the Eagles in week 1. They took an early 7-0 lead before a pick 6 tied up the game in the 2nd Q. They retook the lead with a FG but then failed to stop the Timberwolves from scoring two more TDs. That sent the Eagles into halftime down 10-21. The Eagles mounted a comeback attempt in the second half outscoring the 'Wolves 16-7 in the first 25 minutes and closed within 2 points but failed to capitalize further as Minnesota ate up 3 1/2 minutes on a drive that ended in a FG to give them a 5 point lead that would force the Eagles to go for a TD. The Eagles had a nice 44 yd play that got them as far as Minne's 21 yd line but with time expiring they failed to get in the endzone.
