Can someone explain to me why Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving? (no links plz)

Do you guys watch lolCFL or lolNHL instead?

I only care about the CFL when the Eskimos are in the playoffs. Way more people (at least my demographic) like the NFL.

I'm not from Edmonton...

I'm born in BC, raised and lived in Edmonton for a short time, but grew up in Cold Lake and Fort McMurray
