Just in the interest of transparency, how were teams put into their groups?
A couple of them are REALLY lopsided in Lvl/EffLvl.
Ranking the groups by average level:
E - 68.25
D - 67.25
A - 66.75
C - 66.75
F - 64.75
H - 63.75
G - 63.25
B - 58.75
Ranking the groups by average effective level:
E - 73.75
D - 73.25
A - 73.00
H - 72.75
C - 72.50
F - 70.00
G - 70.00
B - 66.25
Just wondering if there was any consideration to the actual teams put in each group... because it sure doesn't look like it. I realize the bottom 24 teams were put in "randomly" but who are the top 8 teams that got separated? How were they determined? I'm sure this process was explained on Addicts Radio, but some of us didn't listen to it for various reasons.

After the 8 teams were removed I created a random number for each team in Excel using the RAND () command. This creates a probability bounded between 0-1. I then copied and pasted it special into another column and sorted it starting with the highest value to the lowest value. I then took the top 3 highest teams according to that probability put them in A, next 3 highest in B, next 3 highest in C.... until I had all groups full. I understand there are some brutal groups. and some easier groups... that is the nature of randomization. That said, I'm not upset with the way the groups came out.

I guess I'm asking who the 8 teams were... and what criteria was used to determine who they were.
(and no... I'm not suggesting my team should have been one of the 8). I'm just curious how the 8 teams excluded from the random draw were selected... and I guess by proxy, why they were singled out at all.

I had help from a group of 2-3 people (1 of which is an owner in Cas Pro) to determine which were the 8 that they would seed them. I then poured thru scrimmages/pre-season from this year. Last season's standings and refined their suggestions. Which team do you take exception to?
The issue is no matter how I did the seedings there would be questions about them. People like to think they're really super awesome.
Baltimore was a team that was on the bubble for a seeded spot... It was between Baltimore, Philly and Chicago for the last spot. I then randomized the 8 teams as well assigning them to a random group instead of just giving the 1st seed to A 2nd seed to B... It was a random draw for group.
I think that answers who the 8 teams were and what criteria was used. (The top 8 teams were at the top of each group).
Next Question. Why were they singled out at all?
I decided that a completely random draw would have too much variance between groups. It's entirely reasonable to have Diablo Athens and 2 other teams in the same group. I figured most people would agree on who the top 5 teams were or maybe even the top 6-7 and then I'd have disagreements on the last 2. Splitting those teams out reduced the variance between bad teams/good teams and although there are a few weak groups and a few really strong groups... It could be a lot worse leaving those 8 teams in. That was my thought process. If you don't agree please tell me where I'm mistaken and we may change it for next season.
I suppose to make it easier here are the top 8 teams in no particular order.

Baltimore Fuggers Casual Pro
Bridgetown Rum Runners Casual Pro
Detroit Muscle Casual Pro
