i can guarantee you that if it didnt work for CBs with 10 SV, 75+ vision, and ~95 agility, it didnt work for LBs with less than that.

zone hasnt been good for a long time.

in lolleagues where stats dont count or mean anything.

but it is a begging of what could have been and will be again just tweaked a little

again stats dont mean anything. production in loleagues do not = production in legit leagues. just because i have a blocking WR and run QB sweeps all day in the minors doesnt mean that it will work in stronger leagues. zones simply do not work as well as they should in GLB right now, and they havent for quite some time. believe me, i love zone defense. i play FS irl, so hat like 90% of what i play... and i love it. i have nothing against zones. but in GLB, ever since bort tweaked down zone reaction time, zones have not been the same. granted they were over powered then, but he nerfed them into oblivion, and they are still crawling out of that hole.

I still think it would work I will let you know after this season with one of my LB's

sounds good. if bort has tweaked zones enough to be effective again, then i see no reason why they wouldnt work.

but then i go back to your first statement in this thread about how MLBs should almost always be played in zone. thats a bit broad sweeping. i know for example, the DC that i play with a lot likes to play the MLB in man a lot, and he frequently has one of the top rated defenses of his leagues. granted, i think the highest he has ever DCd is AAA, but he isnt the only DC i know that plays a lot of man with their MLBs... and i know quite a few high level DCs.

But a MLB with enough vision and agility should be outstanding in a zone from tackle to tackle in passing or rushing
he can see the play as well get there to make the play I would even give a MLB some ballhawk

he may be good in zone, but the question is if he would be even better in man... and the answer to that question, for at least the past few seasons, has been yes.

and if you are building a coverage LB, you should go with BH regardless of whether or not you are doing zone or man. should really almost look like a CB as far as VAs are concerned.

Best way to use MLB is Man on a back, or a blitzer/ run stuffer .. In zone a MLB is completely worthless.

then design a better defense

if using the MLB in man works (which it does) i dont see why he would need to design a better defense so he could use an MLB in zone... that is a bit counter intuitive.

Yea, the only thing a middle linebacker needs to be in zone for it the 5 wide set where the receiver cuts across the middle, other than that I don't see much use for a MLB in zone.

I guess I can see it being occasionally valuable against some of the Singleback drag/cross routes, but honestly that's about it. Tampa-2 doesn't really work in GLB.
