I agree with UD on this. Those splits working is far from recent and longhorn has been shooting down 20+ splits for a few seasons now.

120/70 and 130/80 still don't work as well (except perhaps in zone); I never said they did. In previous versions of the sim 120/95 would work, but that extra speed would be unnecessary. 95/95 with higher "other" attributes worked much better than 120/95 with lower other attributes. You would see very little to no return despite the huge investment in speed, whereas those same sps could go towards much greater returns in jumping/SB/SV/SDC/etc. In the current version of the sim, not only can you now have the 120/95 and the higher other attributes, but due to sim changes, sacrificing a little bit on the "other" attributes to get higher speed might actually be beneficial.

this. it was never so much that they werent effective (especially in zone), but more that the return was negligible on that much speed... and so if you are getting such a minimal return on your speed (since 95 could keep up with just about anything), why not round out your build more with strength and such so that you can tackle and knock a ball loose every one in a while. but now, with the advent of archetypes, things changed dramatically. now, a lot of builders are aiming for 130 speed, 95 agility or so because: a.) speed WRs are going to be looking at 160 speed. b)the amazing .5 ALGs on speed, agility, vision, and jumping allow you to get those attributes fairly high with a fairly small investment, allowing you, again, to further round out the build just as if you had gone 95/95 in the prior system.

Balancing speed & agility just looked good in the past because OCs weren't exploiting crossing routes.
