Where do you find quality players in the middle of the season?

you might find a gem on a team that guts, mid season, but you will have to recruit your ass off to get him, if it is a good dot lots of people will want him, now times that by 5 players, and if you are just picking up sloppy 2nds then the team you have now sucks... just sayin
