Dozer. It's a lot different when you help out a team with scouting, recruiting, and talking about the sim and tactics and when the team lives and dies by you being active 2-3 hours every single day.

Honestly don't care when he gutted. He didn't gut before the season because he thought he was going to play through the season at first. As the season wore on and realized he couldn't deal with the sim changes and hit a breaking point he called it quits. He would've just gutted day 40 last season if he didn't intend on playing season 14. Shit happens and people reach a point spurred by perhaps a specific game or issue they have with the sim or real life stuff or realize they spend way too many hours on GLB. Sometimes it's a spur of the moment thing and people just quit

Honestly, who cares. The "spirit" of the game wasn't ruined as there are like 4 teams in each conference who are essentially gutted or with guys way too low level to make an impact that are serving the same as guts (though they do get to beat cpu teams but that doesn't mean anything). I don't see a bunch of threads about those teams. In my opinion that's a lot more selfish than what OTR is doing (turtles, freedom, flying elvis, brokeback)

I know being a helpful gm is different from ownership. That's why I don't own a team.

You raise good points about the other teams that are wasting space. I guess they would have to start their own threads like Tooley did.

How would the "spirit" be affected if every team that has a low chance of making the playoffs just up and quit? Besides, there was nothing wrong with OTR. Well, not the players anyway.

Sell your team and walk away. Either have the courage of your convictions or STFU.

Here's another piece to the puzzle that may change your opinion a bit...

I had a DC lined up for the season, but he was inexperienced at the pro level. After experimenting with the defenses through 3 pre-season games, I realized that for this season that style wouldn't work. So, my plans going into the season were to obviously run with the team by stepping back and having a full-time OC/DC... When that didn't work, I had missed out on 3 games of testing my own defense to get things right for the current sim. Could I have made things work eventually? Most definitely, but I am no longer able/willing to put in the time required... I haven't had a job for almost a month, and that should be WAY up the priority list when compared to owning a team/running the defense...

Also, there were some issues with our offense and it was looking more and more like if I wanted to have the team at the level I had envisioned I would also have to take over that part of things...

As far as knowing what it takes to be successful as an owner... I'd say being a part of the inaugural world league class and representing USA for 2 seasons at that level, as well as taking a team all the way from BBB to World League would more than speak for itself... You not owning a team, and never having owned a team makes you pretty much a non-factor in any discussion regarding the fact. Would pretty much be like me going on a talk show and rambling about plastic surgery techniques...

tooley put in his time for over 2 years. Owning a competitive team for that long is a grind. And OTR was very competitive all under his watch. He can call it quits whenever he wants to Week 3 is way better than half assing it for 26 more days. In the end, the result on the league is the same.

How did you know that I’m a plastic surgeon? That’s freaky.O_o

I reject the notion that you have to be an owner to know what it takes to be a successful owner. Do you have to be an owner to know what an unsuccessful owner is? I’ve certainly been a factor in this discussion. However, it appears I may have offended some of your friends so I apologize for that.

I accept that being a successful owner takes a huge commitment.

It’s my opinion that going CPU after three weeks is pathetic.

Congrats on you previous success.

OTR. Talk about “non-factor”

He should have just ignored criticism. He wants the drama.

Not sure I'm following you here bud. I'm not looking at making a choice like you are posing. I'm sticking with the team I'm on win or lose. It sounds like you are suggesting that if you aren't sure you can win it all you should quit and find another team.

You're saying that tooley did a horrible and unspeakable thing in letting agents go to other teams, where they have more of a chance at a title than if they had stuck around on a team about to go into cruise control. Sorry if that confused you.
