Here in the east things are looking a lot more even than last year. If this first week is any indication, the east may be much tougher than everyone initially assumed, maybe even more competitive than the west!

Charlotte Clamjousters def Cleveland Steamer 30-3

I honestly thought the Steamer had turned their team around, however, I still have a habit of undervaluing level differences (really how can yall blame me ). Cleveland got Steamed (Haha, okay, I lied). The Jousters really just outlasted them, with all of their TDs coming in the second half. This is a good start for the Jousters, who are looking to compete with the Doom and the Gangsters for the Eastern title, but tougher teams loom on the horizon.

Star Performers:
Offense:
Ron Curry – 10 Completions out of 16 Attempts for 82 yards, 1 TD, 0 Int
Defense:
Jeremy Davis – 8 Tackles, 5 Passes Defended

Highlights:
Charlotte fumbled the opening kick off after an impressive return from Xavier Lees and gave Cleveland the first score of the game
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5587439
A Charlotte Interception led to 6 consecutive points from Field Goals.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5588048
It rained TDs in the 4th quarter as Charlotte’s level advantage shined

Miami Sharks def Tampa Elite 23-10

The Tampa Defense couldn’t hold the Sharks’ offense as the Sharks blow by the Elite in a commanding fashion. Miami’s Star QB had a spectacular game with 222 passing yards and two scores. Defensively, neither team really showed any flash. However, Tampa failed to get into the endzone, which is a major disappointment for their high level offense. They need to get their team chemistry up if they want to remain competitive.

Star Performers:
Offense:
Willie (steamin’) Beamen - 25 Completions out of 38 Attempts for 222 yards, 2 TD, 0 Int
Defense:
Lamont Butterfield – 7 Tackles, 5 Passes Defended, 1 Int

Highlights:
The Sharks take their first possession 65 yards for the score.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5587582
Great protection by the Miami O-line that led to a long passing play
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5588637
A good run after the catch keeps the Miami drive alive and gives the Sharks a 3-possession lead.

New York Doom def Nashville Dores 58-9

A solid showing by the Doom that definitely met the high expectations for this team. However, I’m concerned about the early Field Goal allowed against a team that started 2 CPUs on offense. That secondary will need to step it up to contain some of the much-improved teams in the eastern conference. None-the-less, 625 yards gives Nashville a welcome that says, “You’ve got a long way to go.” Flex Jetson ran for a monstrous 252 yards and 3 scores. Defensively, the NY Dline pressured the Nashville QB with 2 sacks and 4 hurries.

Star Performers:
Offense:
Flex Jetson – 31 Ruses for 252.5 yards, 1 Reception for 5.5 yards, 3 TD
Defense:
Antonio Jammer - 2 Tackles with 1 for Loss, 1 Sack, 2 Hurries

Highlights:
After a disappointing 3 and out on their opening drive and a Dores Field Goal, the Doom rally with a deep strike
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5587879
I <3 broken tackles
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5588468
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5588980
Flex is off to the races

Ho Playbook def Albany Mammoths 16-14

Okay, I’ve definitely underestimated the Mammoths. They definitely pulled through despite some low-leveled backups. As the season continues you’re going to see more and more success coming from the Mammoths if they continue down this path. This is another case of a team with more yards, but fewer points. Not even a +2 turnover differential could get the Mammoths the win. But this game came down to the wire. Some crappy CPU clock management was what really cost Albany the victory. Honestly though, I blame the Albany coaching staff for putting that weak backup QB in to close out a critical 4th quarter. As for the Ho Playbook, they’re still a solid team, but two drops from a level 20 WR? What gives? Also, that interception count needs to be lowered and fast!

Star Performers:
Offense:
Justin Mayo – 19 Completions out of 25 Attempts for 178 yards, 2 TD
Defense:
Charles Stevens - 3 Tackles, 3 Int

Highlights:
Albany draws first blood after an early pick that ended Ho’s first drive.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5581918
Ho couldn’t recover a Red Zone fumble, allowing a second Albany TD
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5582977
This is what 20 levels should buy you, you couldn’t pay me enough to want to be Aaron on that play
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5584270
But does it really take 40 seconds to run a short passing play? I wonder if there’s a stat that affects clock management…
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5586672

St. Louis Beer Barons def Radio City Irrelevants 9-0

300 yards without a single TD. I’m not sure whether to give kudos to the Irrelevants’ defense or to knock on the Beer Barons’ offense. However, St. Louis’ defense saved the day, forcing 5 turnovers, a +3 differential, and hurrying the Irrelevants’ QB 11 times. Crucial turnovers prevented a late scoring opportunity that could have turned the game over for Radio City. However, without a strong offense, St. Louis will be hard pressed to compete with the defensive monster that is Indy.

Star Performances:
Offense:
Zak Yoda – 3 Field Goals out of 3 Attempts
Defense:
Sasch Snuggels - 1 Tackle, 1 Pass Defended, 2 Int

Highlights:
Turnovers were the story of the night.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5581971 http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5582196
Some hard-fought field position ended in an interception and no points for the Irrelevants
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5584397
These two lost possessions took away any shot of Radio City Rallying.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5585619
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5586086

Miami Carniceros def Chicago Dire Wolves 17-13

Another close game, but this one finally swung for the team that had the most yards. The Wolves forced 6 fumbles! However, as Austin discovered last year, forcing fumbles is useless if you don’t recover them. The +2 turnover differential was not enough to give the Wolves the win.

Star Performers:
Offense:
Judge Smails - 31 Rushes for 122 yards, 2 Receptions for 6 yards, 1 TD
Defense:
Phuoc Nguyen - 5 Tackles, 1 Sack, 2 Forced Fumbles

Highlights:
It was a scoreless first quarter but the Carniceros slowly won the Field Position battle and came away with the first score.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5582721
A recovered fumble on special teams helped the Wolves get their first score.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5583049
That swarming Wolves defense didn’t get enough help from the offense.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5584311
A Chicago Rallying TD in the 3rd
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5584819
The Carniceros got a turnover when it really mattered
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5586110
And held on to win
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5586186

Indianapolis Gangsters def Pittsburgh Irons 55-0

The Gangsters have what it takes to go all the way this year. However, they fumbled 4 times and lost 3. Their kicker missed 3 field goals. And lastly, that Oline gave up a sack and hurry. They lost in the playoffs last season because of that trouble-ridden offense. They’re going to need to clean up their offensive game. Defensively, they’re giving up yards and more shockingly, missing tackles. Hopefully this is not a reflection on them, but rather that the Irons have improved a lot since last season. Still, a star defense with a solid level advantage needs to do better.

Star Performers:
Offense:
Steve “McQueen” Bullitt - 17 Completions out of 38Attempts for 227 yards, 4 TD, 0 Int
Defense:
Strahan Rampage – 2 Tackles with 1 for Loss, 1 Sack, 3 Hurries, 1 Forced Fumble

Highlights:
An opening drive TD set the pace for the night
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5581811
The Irons couldn’t make anything happen off of a second quarter pick.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5582516
Long plays are inevitable when you’re so outmatched
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5584314

Montpelier Morticians def Palmyra Cougars 13-0

Like I suspected, the Mortician’s running game was the difference in this contest. But in a tougher Eastern conference, they need more offense to make it through to the playoffs. Their defense definitely played well, with a +4 turnover margin and only 30 yards rushing allowed. But no scores in the second half gives me reason to be concerned about Montpelier’s chances in the east.

Star Performer:
Offense:
Joe Elfback– 37 Rushes for 116.5 yards, 1 TD
Defense:
Nick Nevins – 6 Tackles, 5 Passes Defended, 1 Int

Highlights:
Elfback escapes the blitz to make long gains. His rushing led to two early Mortician Field Goals.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5588365
An Early interception led to the only touchdown of the game
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5588755
A long interception return sets up great field position but the Morticians couldn’t convert.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5590249

So, these postgame anaylsis’s took much longer than I anticipated. From now on I probably wont do such in depth post games… its much more fun to speculate anyways
Expect a toned down post game, but possibly some interviews with coaches and players. Seems like Magik is a no-show this season, I’ll take his place for a while.
Good luck everyone in 3b9

I hope your joking and know him (Icantdrawanime) personally, otherwise your comment is not cool. He takes time out of his "life" to make the game more enjoyable for everyone. You should either respect that or leave your comment to yourself.

haha, hes joking, everyone on the BFFs knows each other, the GMs especially. And yea, I'll definitely have less time to do this once I start work, but meh...

Welcome to SportsCenter!

We have some great matchups here in week 2 that will shape the landscape of the competition in the western conference, so lets get crackin.

Omaha Shockers v Honolulu Warriors

Both the Shockers and the Warriors opened up with weak opponents and had an easy time of it. This week is going to be much more difficult for the both of them. The Warriors have a solid team right now, with no glaring weaknesses on either offense or defense. The Shockers on the other hand have a few holes in their depth chart and are lacking backups in a few positions. This is going to hurt them greatly against a much higher level Warriors team. However, don’t underestimate the Shocker defense, this game could be closer than the score suggests.

21-6 Warriors

Kansas City Wiz v BC Lions

Another easy week for the Wiz as the Lions continue to show that they don’t know what to do with all of those high-leveled players. There won’t be anything to see here as the Wiz toast the Lions. Hopefully at the end of the season, when BC gets their abysmal chemistry up we’ll start to see some marked improvement.

24-3 Wiz

South Texas Thunder v Hollywood Stars

This game should be interesting to watch. South Texas’ one-man management will need a bit of luck to beat the Stars this week. The Star’s passing game will give the Thunder secondary some trouble. Those CPUs on the Thunder depth chart will cost them the game. What remains to be seen is what kind of defense they’ve put together down in Hollywood. But this should be a comfortable win for the Stars.

20-10 Stars

Los Angeles Sweetness v Cary Carpetbaggers

This should be a fun game for Cary, and a chance for them the pad their stats a little. The Sweetness simply have too many holes on offense and defense to pull through in this one. What will be interesting to see here is whether the Sweetness have some life. If they can manage to put a touchdown in against Cary, there may be some hope for them yet.

34-6 Carpetbaggers

Riverside Renegades v Houston Outlaws

They’re crying upset in Riverside but they’ll probably have to wait a little while longer. Houston’s low chemistry should make this one of the more exciting games of the night, but a weak Renegade defense gives Houston the edge in this matchup. And Houston desperately needs to avoid the loss. There were some rumblings last season that Houston was the weakest member of the quad and they’ve made lots of acquisitions in the offseason. I feel like this Houston team is out to prove themselves this season and a loss to the Renegades just wont do.

20-13 Outlaws

El Paso Bandits v TEAM Chuck Norris

The Bandits came off of a narrow victory against the Terror last week and now face Chuck Norris. This should be an easier week for the Bandits and I’m sure they would be disappointed if they have to sweat it out against Chuck Norris. Its time for the Bandits to make use of all of that depth on defense.

21-6 Bandits

Scranton Tunas v Oakland Terror

Both teams came from a tough season of rebuilding and were here to prove themselves on opening night. However, while the Terror put up a fight, Scranton got tossed by the Outlaws. This game will be close, but the Tunas should be able to pull out a win here. They have the depth and the high levels. I don’t feel the chemistry will give Oakland enough of an edge.

16-13 Tunas

Elite Sea Team v Houston Panthers

Nothing to see here guys, Sea Team shouldn’t have a problem knocking off the Panthers. Although I am concerned about that defense of theirs that simply didn’t show up against South Texas. But CPUs just wont cut it and Houston will get burned.

28-7 Sea Team

The east also has a few big games here in week 2 . Lets take a look at the matchups.

New York Doom v Chicago Dire Wolves

With all of the talk coming out of New York, they sure as hell better not lose to the Wolves. But a defense that failed to stop a CPU heavy offense from making it into scoring range will have more trouble against a competent offensive task force. This game should be high scoring, at least for the Doom. The Wolves just have to make sure not to get blow out. Seriously though, a Kicker at NT?

28-10 Doom

Indianapolis Gangsters v Charlotte Clamjousters

Its time for the Jousters to show everyone that they aren’t just talk. If they can hold Indy to zero scores in the first quarter they might have a chance in this one, but they have to get in the endzone. Indianapolis must not let themselves get stuffed early or morale may become a factor that will work against them. We all know the Indy defense is solid stuff, but last season showed that it wasn’t enough. This season we need to see the offense pull some weight.

17-6 Gangsters

Nashville Dores v Miami Sharks

All I have to say to the owner of the Dores is, get some low level human players, anything is better than a CPU in this game. The Sharks offense will have a field day, but lets see if they can contain the only human threats on Nashville’s offensive depth chart.

30-7 Sharks

Miami Carniceros v Pittsburgh Irons

The Irons didn’t score a point against the gangsters, but that was to be expected when they play the best defense in the league. But here in Miami they need touchdowns to show the league that they’re here to play, and not to be run over. As for the Carniceros, they’re gonna be 2-0

23-3 Carniceros

Radio City Irrelevants v Ho Playbook

Radio City couldn’t score against the Jousters, but they should be able to put some points on the board here. Ho has the high-leveled players and the depth, but they’re going to need to do more to show that they’re more than just a tier 2 team in the eastern conference. This one is going to be close folks, but Radio City should be able to pull out a win if they put points on the board.

13-12 Irrelevants

Montpelier Morticians v St. Louis Beer Barons

I feel that the Beer Barons could be right up there with the Doom and the Gangsters if they showed a bit more ability on offense. They shouldn’t have a problem against the Morticians, that team has way too many holes in their depth chart, but against the top tier of the east they may not be good enough.

17-3 Beer Barons

Albany Mammoths v Tampa Elite

Tampa doesn’t have the defense to beat a lot of the tier 2 teams in the league, but against the Mammoths, their offense will be able to pull enough weight. Albany is once again out matched. It will be interesting to see if they can stay competitive in this one.

20-10 Elite

Cleveland Steamer v Palmyra Cougars

This game will be interesting. I’m not sure what to say. Palmyra doesn’t have enough depth, but Cleveland hasn’t shown that they know what to do with their players. I feel the Steamer should be able to pull out a win here. Of course, that’s all on them.

14-10 Steamer
