TBH it could be a little worse but it could be the most stacked WL division in the brief history. It all depends on how the new ones stack up but reading the list of teams there are some epic ones.

I guess it also depends on how everyone's recruiting goes and if they can squeeze mentors into the right places.

It's not even close to Alpha last season imo... let's hope it's a while till the conferences are that uneven again.

Depends on how you define it, I think. S13 Alpha had the best "top five" in the history of the game, but dropped off quite a bit from there. S14 Zeta will have a brutal "top three," and while there's a fall off after that, it's ridiculously deep in terms of second tier quality. Because of the weird way the conferences were assigned, this is the first time that we know someone who made the playoffs the previous season will not being doing so in the following season. At least one team and quite possibly several from Sparta, Nashville, HHW, Bonn, Santiago, and Providence will be going away.

I actually agree here. Depending on recruiting I could make a case for just about every team in Zeta to make the playoffs.

Why does Valhalla always end up in the tougher conference?

That is what I am talking about, Top to Bottom fighting to get in the playoffs, not just top 5 teams, yes IMO last season the top 5 was about as good as it gets.

I agree, but I think the toughness level of a conference is determined by how hard it is to get to the finals from that conference. I can see how different definitions could be more relevant to other teams, but for contenders this is always going to be the best definition.

this is exactly the way I see it. I think this season's Zeta has the 3 best teams in the game from S13, but the next bunch of top teams from S13 are in Alpha. What makes Zeta really superior though is the incredible depth they have. In Alpha, I really see 6 teams fighting for the final 3 playoff spots (and 5 teams that I'd be shocked to be in it at the end). In Zeta, it's going to be a brutal final few games (similar to this season in Zeta).

Oh. So not only are we not contenders, but because we aren't contenders, our definitions don't count.

Edit:
Moreover, I'm not sure that we won't end up matching the top 5 from Alpha last season either. All it will take is improvement from two established teams in Zeta.

I think Providence is going to be pretty damn good this season, you guys might surprise some people. And Bonn might have regained their top spot as well (haven't even looked at their roster yet tbh). So I wouldn't rule it out.
