You know , I'm gonna have to agree with Thunder , The qb run is effective when playing bad teams (or even average) But if you run into a team thats really good , you'll be shut down. Because it is stoppable

and 1.4 ypc , I say thats pretty much the defense owning the offense

Which may have been a much better way to say the flame-fest post I chose to use to say pretty much the same thing.

I also didn't question whether 1.9 YPC was a win for the defense, I questioned whether that displayed any kind of "ease" of stopping, as he obviously had considered the QB rush while making the defense yet was still incapable of holding them under 1.9YPC on a team that had far from the "perfect" game plan.

My post and this thread has more of a focus on the ABILITY of the offense to use the QB rush effectively no matter what defense you run unless you are completely exposed to some other aspect of the game on almost every play. It is impossible to create a defense that is "perfect" or we wouldn't have defensive AI would we? This is my point, every play is effective when it is set up and run at the right time, so I don't understand why the QB Rush gets scrutinized as being a "useless" or "easily stopped" play when it is nothing more than a small effective part of a well balanced offense.

When did I say you can't stop the QB run, I said you can't stop the QB run every play without EXPOSING your defense to something else, you make a sacrifice somewhere else every time you move a player around or change his assignment even slightly.

Maybe the sacrifice is the <2 yards gained on the QB rush plays...... If you can keep 4 plays to less than 2.5 yards, your defense will be successful.

Look at this DC here. He positioned the FS and SS too far to the inside and the QB blows right by them.

And here he fails to "tag" the rushing QB and he romps for a big gain

Just shows how good DC's can at times overlook some obvious situations.

Rushing QB's are easy to stop, so there's no need for a discussion about the topic. If you can't stop them, then you suck as a DC.

Be my guest and give it a try, but a balanced offense that incorporates the QB run is going to be more effective than one that doesn't. If there is really a team that uses their backup rushing QB only on rushing plays they deserve to be shot. Please god come out in a SS/FS outside blitz man coverage defense every play just because my backup QB is in, I'll tear you to shreds. Every single play in GLB has its advantages against certain defenses, their is no "useless" or "easily stopped" play because their should be no way for a team to know which play you are running. There are going to be exposed parts of every defense you make that given the right play call could lead to a touchdown without even a single missed tackle, lets not forget that some plays are designed to alternate between losing a yard and going for a touchdown. Even the best outside QB rush defense is going to give up big plays to a 99% QB roll out offense, because missed tackles do happen. My point is, stop hating on people for using the QB rush just because you hate the fact that you have to adjust every defensive play you make to prevent it from being exposed to it. This game, when played at its best, is a very complicated one which should never be brought down to such simplistic and obviously wrong generalizations.

Also that Thunder guy doesn't know wtf he's talking about. I mean really, it's not like he owns one of the most dominate PeeWee teams ever built.

Agreed HHM sucks!

Also me thinks someone has self esteem issues (EatDaBeaver) that he over compensates for in internet forums lol. Can't wait to see any of your teams end up in gold. We will enjoy seeing you there!

Praise him for other peoples work more.

Ooh so having knowledge of the game makes his lack of an argument somewhat more valid?

Nobody has even attempted to provide a piece of an argument in favor of the opposing side, just clearly stated over and over again that they do indeed disagree, good for you, try maybe developing your point. Even the most qualified scientist in the world would lose a debate against a 5 year old if he did nothing more than say he disagrees.

My point exactly, even the slightest glitch in your play design, even 1 point lacking in speed per inch of distance from a certain point can lead to touchdowns instead of TFLs, but by all means sit there and prepare EVERY defensive play to be sure that it can stop QB rushes and then say its somehow easy to stop.
