Maybe for rookie of the year have it using a player at or under the median where it's their first year in the league?

It sounds like people just don't like the term "Rookie". If it was newcomer of the year or something else, I don't think they would have a problem. Technically rookie doesn't mean low level. Just because we think of new players to the NFL coming from college as rookies, doesn't mean a 30 year old coming from Canadian football is not also a rookie.

QFT

Think of Baseball 'rookies' who've been in the minors for 10 years... yeah rookie, but no.
So for this thread so we can kill this, how about split and call one rookie/newbie and they have to start at level 5 or lower (just to cover boosts and a game or two in the D league) and the other Best New to the League Player (or something).

This makes sense because the CFL is considered a lower league than the NFL. The baseball analogy is good too, because then again its a player going from a LOWER league to a higher one. Unconquered's QB came from a higher league so it makes no sense no matter how you try to rationalize it to real life. in, fact when you do that it further kills the rookie of the year award for our league.

To me though it should be called new comer of the year but who the hell is gonna truly keep track of it? I mean I know if i signed a new lvl 18 HB i woulnd't really care to get that award....if he led my team to the playoffs and we did well and he had stats to be considered MVP i might care about him getting that one, might.

I know the awards are for fun but at least have them make sense.

Heres my suggestion for rookie of the year...our "unofficial" median is 11. I consider it official being that it was made a sticky. So we should consider all players lvl 11 and lower rookies and have players submit candidates from their team and we vote on it based on performance. I know a rookie should only have been in the league for its first season but we don't have a draft and theres no way to start a player out any higher than level 1. So if that works for you guys lets have a rookie of the year award.

agreed, newcomer award maybe but I find a lvl 18-20 guy being labeled a Rookie to be laughable
