I saw Dixon put the hurt on the Huskies a couple times and it was simply amazing how much it was like a man amoung boys. Washington and Oregon both have decent college programs so they have some great atheletes, but when you have an elite player it is impossible not to stand out. After watching him play last night I have to think he could be a capable NFL quarterback and would love to see him given a real chance.

As a huge steelers fan, I would say he is a good back-up policy for the stillers, but he's no big ben. HE can run, but he looked extremely shaky against zone coverage, and that was a bad pick.

I suppose, but that's something that comes with experience and leadership more so. It's not like you can really expect him to jump in and control the game like a field general right off the bat. And your right Timmy, we were talking bout; that above. But when Dixon was at Oregon, he really had one breakout year, had an amazing 9 games, and then tore his ACL. From there, he went straight to the NFL, so I'd say he got in maybe a season or 2 of "real" college gametime. So for him to jump in and take over, that's impressive in my books.

LMAO. Coming from a patriots fan, who got screwed over one game in many years. The Jets and many others have gotten screwed over so many times this year. It cost us (Jets) 3 games, including the Buffalo one in OT and the Miami game in NY. Patriots aren't going to stay on top in the East for very long, once Sanchez improves, we'll be beasts. Think about it, the kids a rookie but he can look better than Brady some days.
LMAO looks better than brady....LMAO Anyways you fail to remember that we have like 50 picks (not really but close) in the next couple of drafts including Oaklands #1 in 2011 (thanks Al Davis) so even though Brady will be getting older we can replace the players around him and our whole defense is young and they look bad at times (ahem last night ahem) but when they get there shit together we will have a beast defense to go with a good offense.....The Jests will not win the division for a while.....

I agree that he did a damn good job... but I wasn't too surprised at that ... This is is 2nd year and he has been the Steelers 3rd string QB since he was drafted. In the last 5 years making the Steelers team has been very difficult for their draft picks.... so the fact that the Steelers carried him on their roster the last 2 seasons mean a lot.
one of the things I've noticed this year about the Steelers..... OC abandons the runs quickly even though they are running the ball effectively this season... Mendenhall is averaging 5 yards a carry......and a lot of games this season when the offense is stagnant ...they go no huddle ... , They usually move the ball really well in the no huddle... and the kicker is... Big Ben calls the plays when they go no huddle....
Once they get their QB depth chart filled out... I hope they use Dixon every now and then... he's very talented... wouldn't be a bad idea too,,, since there are times Big Ben could use a rest after 2 or 3 plays in a row where he's running for his life.
I'm just a little ticked at the OC... and I understand how silly that sounds... not sure Arians cares there's a computer guy in Nashville that's upset with him...
OCing a QB like Big Ben has to be tough though, since Ben doesn't really play like a typical franchise QB....

I have never been a fan of ben. I fell his talent has more to do with what he is surrounded with. Last year when he got hurt leftwich came in and i felt like he should have played the rest of the season. then ben picked it up in the end of the season i dont think he could go to Tampa and play like he does. I think he is a OK QB in a great team. But if he was on a sht team i think he would be a sht QB
Its like Mcnabb for years he has carried the offense but over the past couple of years the offense has been carrying him.
Before i get reamed this just IMO

Once we get a damn OC who knows how to run an offense, it'll make him improve. Here's what the Jets do 95% of the time on offense. 1st down - Rush up middle. 2nd - Rush up middle. 3rd - On 3rd and 7+ we throw a pass. I wonder why we got intercepted, oh yeah, maybe the defense knew our play. Cheating!
It's simple, some drives, he opens it up on 1st down and those are the drives the Jets score on. Like against carolina, all their big drives came on 1st and 2nd down passing. The OC needs to get more common sense tbh.

I'd like to see the Steelers use Dixon in a Slash-type role that Kordel Stewart did so well at. Stewart was effective in that multipurpose role, much more so than as the featured QB, and it would be a way of getting a young, athletic, and talented player some touches. The Steelers aren't exactly brimming with explosive offensive players but I could see Dixon being good with 5-8 plays a game on the field.
