Rage, you know full well that anyone pumping speed on D-Line ad O-Line will have awesome results on passing downs. I am trying to convice Black of this on Anvils forum (he thinks my OTs ae not strong enough), with limited success

<unbuttons fly> Your DT is the best build I've seen

no, you are trying to convince me that high level DE's need not take Str past 48, and that they should cap Jumping before Stamina and Confidence. If you're gonna call me out, at least be honest man

And yes, I think stopping at the low 60's in Str for an OT is too low. I never said Speed was not needed, I know it's essential. I just think you should leave it until you are done with at least Str, Blk and Agi (and arguably other attributes too).

Anyone who leaves a DE's str at 48 will quickly become useless in both phases of the game. If he's telling you to do that then ignore him.

Yup. It's more a case of me trying to persuade him otherwise

Pah.....I was wondering if you'd find my post, Black......sneaky mo' fo'.....(or not).....I like it!

Can anyone show me a Pass Rush DE who has only first capped strength, that is NOT successful? If so, then I would be interested........

I said Jumping before Strength anyhow, and I said Confidence last, but was toying with Stamina before Jumping.

You've convinced me to softcap Strength third (after 5th capping speed, and 4th capping Agility)......but I still think Vision should be next and then Jumping (turns hurries into sacks), but no one has done this, so we dont know. I'll post back in 5 months time when my dot has grown up

If you note, my point was about Speed being so high, and that's why Rage's build is so good. I'm telling you, this game is all about finding holes and counter balancing (which is why my OTs have so much Speed, to counter act those pass rushing DEs).....watch Luke's Strength build OTs try and Pass Block - they get ruined every single time

1) The league was full of DEs with softcapped and lower strength DE around season 5 or 6. They used to work very well. Then the sim changed and strength needed to go higher...much higher.

2) Jumping is a fine attribute, but strength is far more important. Also, you'll want to take advantage of the rather prodigious level-up gains that are available in strength.

3) Many folks have softcapped or higher jumping for high level d-linemen. It doesn't suck, but it is a marginal improvement helping more with PDs than with sacks.

4) Speed is a fine attribute for O-line, but it is not as important as strength, blocking or agility. Some argue it is not as important as confidence and/or vision. The biggest problem with speed for O-line is the complete lack of level-up gains. This forces you to cap it last (or nearly last) for any o-line build that you want to play at high levels. If you don't take strength to at least 68 before you even you even touch speed, you will either enjoy early retiement or spend your "golden years" messing around in AA instead of Pro or WL. Maybe that's okay? It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it certainly means you will never have an elite build at high levels.

I dont know how this went from being about a DT getting sacks and presures to perfect Oline builds. Please let us know what your shed block is at and what VAs you are using? Looking at the replays you posted rev cakes are not involved here and niether is jump snap. The LG clearly gets his hands on your DT who shrugs him off and goes into the gap. I think some of this is play design, he is singled out on a LG and everyone else goes wide giving him a free pass to the QB after sheding the block. Also it may have something to do with good secondary and bad DEs that cant beat their guys. QB is holding the ball for an offly long time there.

I've seen good results moving some EQ from agility to speed. I'm still looking for a FS AEQ piece.
