I agree that there are certain factors of the current sim that should be addressed, or fixed, before anything new is implemented.

I voted against coaching for that reason also.

Can't agree with making alterations to one side of the ball w/o balancing it out on the other side also at the same time. Offenses may not be 'over-powering', but they are still pretty efficient, even with the defense benefiting from the DPC, etc. I think the sim has reached a solid level of competitiveness finally...We're not seeing basketball-type scores, but we are seeing some decent (and realistic) results for the most part, with a few blowouts here and there (cpu/gutted don't count) and even some nice defensive struggles.

Enhance the game by improving what's running right now (as some of you have already mentioned some great specifics), and worry about more 'bangs and whistles' somewhere down the road.

Coaches are bullshit. Period end of debate.

-Special teams stats counted (pancakes counted, tackles tracked separately from defensive tackles)
-Inputs with auto-adjust that have outputs with packages shoudl adjust the plays within a package, not the package as a whole
-QBs that can really buy time by moving around (Ben Roethlisberger being a good example)

Good call on play-action, that is overdue as well.

All great ideas....any of these are better than coaches imo

Well said man. I personally think the negative talk about the current state of the sim is overblown somewhat. Sure there are still fundamental problems that Bort still needs to address, but nothing that is really allowing exploits or causing ridiculous scores. Everything I've seen this season is working enough that games have WAY more balance on both offense and defense.

Adding coaches that use special abilities to boost team attributes and cause more crazy anomalies in the games wouldn't compliment the current sim. Thankfully the vote titled in the favor of not adding it any time soon, without a whole lot more discussion on it.

I know Bort is probably sweating to get new revenue flowing and that's a quick way to do it, but he can't risk causing more problems because the only paying customers he has left are starting to reconsider.

Yes, because apparently defenses being psychic and knowing if the offense is passing or running isn't enough for DC's already?

that part was largely eliminated though. LB's lining up over a guy if it was a pass, but staying where they were placed if it was a run, etc.

What are you referring to specifically here? That's definitely not the case if its a rushing QB on there on the field.

Mostly.

The DPC is a huge advantage in itself. I'm beside myself that DCs can't even seem to cover HBs, but expect to cover the entire field with every single formation they run.

You defend a QB run just like you'd defend a pitch. If you treat it like another HB that could come at you on the outside then there's really nothing special about it. It's all about scouting and gameplanning. It's interesting how DC's think OC's are so "in control" when it comes to rushing the ball. There are only so many plays an OC can actually run and expect to be successful with, due to the design of blocking schemes, typical defensive formations, and insane LB reads.

the problem i've always had with the rushing QB thing is how Bort coded QB's to not appear as "live ball carriers" until they cross the LOS unless a defender is set to pass rush or blitz.

I agree that it is easy to shut down and gameplan for and it isn't nearly the exploit people claim it to be. Check out our games against the Lima Beans (pre Season 11) and other rushing QB's. But the QB rollout rush in GLB takes advantage of that little nuance in the code. Unless a defender is set to blitz, he is blind to the QB rolling out until he passes the LOS. That part needs to be fixed, imo.

But your insinuation that you defend it just like a pitch is incorrect, as your DC would surely tell you. Especially the I-form rollouts..... I-form pitch you have one blocker out there. The i-form rollouts to say the strong side, the FB and HB each get out in front. If you defend that like you defend a normal pitch, coupled with the QB / LOS issue, it's an easy 5 yds.

I definitely agree blocking code needs a huge fix though. Its downright ridiculous.

And at the same time, QBs that scramble on a pass play are very stupid about how to buy time. So frustrating.

for real. How about a rolling out pass play too? Can we get one of those?

Just tell the DC to put the LDE in coverage, and your QB will roll out. See, the defense really does control everything already.
