Hurrricane Bear - Gets it.

Bhall43- Does not.

This is strictly in the context of regard by Chicago fans IF Cutler leads the Bears to a Super Bowl. Jordan is awesome, I don't dispute that. I fondly got to riot for 6 summers during his reign with thousands of my closest friends. That being said, there are a number of things working against Jordan:

-Leaving for the Wizards diminished his legacy in Chicago, do you think Green Bay fans are rooting for Farvre on the Vikings?
-Being a mediocre GM of the Wizards and Bobcats. Danny Ainge, Steve Kerr, John Paxson...How many of Jordan's colleagues from his era are having more success than him as GMs?
-Basketball. Chicago Bulls basketball wasn't that popular until Jordan came along. Hell, he made the entire NBA popular. The problem is, when he left and the Bulls endured 8 years of play-off less losing seasons, the Bulls fans died as well. He created the fans, but they abandoned the game after Jordan. With football, these Chicago fans are diehards. They sell out in -10 degree weather whether the Bears are 4-12 or 13-3. Jordan was a big fish in a small pond, if Cutler can win a SB while being a big fish in a bigger pond, it will be more impressive to the hordes of Chicago fans.

I agree though, the rest of the world won't give two flying fucks if Cutler leads Chicago to a SB victory, but most non-Chicagoans have no idea how many people from Chicago are clinging to the 85 Bears.

how many of you are clinging to Jim MacMahon still? Would you say he was the great Chicago QB of all time? He brought you a Superbowl.

No. Sid Luckman is the greatest Bears QB of all time. I didn't witness his greatness, but he was the QB of a team that dominated the early 40's like few teams have dominated in NFL history. McMahon is second.

but not many people rejoice to Jim MacMahon. At least not one Bears fan I know of anyways. I knew one of you would say Sid Luckman, but im just going upon who won the last superbowl...which is basically what Cutler would be.

tbh on the Jordan vs Cutler thing....it's not realy Jordan vs Cutler, Jordan was the best ever at his sport and Cutler will need to have an amazing career to even sniff the Hall. It's the fact the Bears have never had a franchise QB since Luckman. Fans twice my age didn't see Luckman play. You've all seen the "list". The QBs since McMahon we've had. They would bring that up EVERY Packers game. And for many of the other national broadcasts we had as well. How would you feel if that was your team and you now finally might have a franchise QB? A team you've routed for your whole life where QBs like Eric Kramer, Jim Harbaugh and Rex Grossman are your QB "heros"? Unless your a Bears fan, I just don't think you can really understand.

And I don't know how the city truly feels, I wish I did and could. But from everything i've read/experienced, it's always seemed Chicago is a football city. THe Bears are always relevant even when they suck, and if they don't I think the city would be on fire. The Bulls not so much. THe baseball teams I honestly can't say as I don't think anyone could truly like baseball more than football anyways.

I think you all are just caught up on what your city is...rather than looking at the big picture being whatever is the winning method, your city takes that shape. I don't disagree that everyone packs into Bears games...there are 16 games a season and football is one of the greatest sports to watch period. If baseball or basketball had a 16 game season, you would see the stands filled to max capacity each season. And on most occasions, you will see that at Wrigley. If the city wasnt divided into 2 baseball teams, the feeling would probably be amplified ridiculously.

I also dont disagree that its great for Bears fans to get Cutler. I just don't think that winning one superbowl is going to make him much more than a placeholder. And I think hes a long shot to do so anyways the way the division is shaping up.

OK, well I don't live in Chicago so I don't know, but if you guys ever fucking say that Cutler is greater than Michael Jordan, know that your city will be considered the dumbest in the United States and will be the butt of jokes for decades. Seriously, you'd have to be mentally retarded to believe that, even if he DOES win a SB ring or two.

Isn't this country great? When people can admit they have no clue and don't know, but then comment on something anyway? And then for extra Lols, despite the fact they still don't know, call people mentally retarded if they disagree with a point they themselves already admit not having a clue about. We salute you Mr. Real Man of Genius.

Nice try, but you missed it. I was saying I don't know how Chicagoans will feel. What I do know, and what I told you, is what the rest of the country will think of you if you guys ever rate Cutler over Jordan.

Cutler or no Cutler, the Bears are not going to win a SB anytime soon.
