I don't like Chad Pennington because I was going out with a girl from West Virginia that used to date him(which she says anyway). She said he was a woman-beater.

That doesn't take anything away from his game. He is a great accurate QB with no arm strength. He works good with that but it still limits what he can do as far as passing

you should re-read when you quoted myself and ellosla.

i could care less about pennington...but he happened to play for an old coach who constantly talked about him having 0 skills and watching film for 8 hours a day

Well, then shut up if you don't want to sound stupid. I know what its like on the gridiron. See there's some players(obviously, you're one of them) that get on the field with a plan A and maybe some have a plan B, but plans change when you get socked in the mouth. As a SS, I'll have balls the first time when I try to hit a big RB, but if I get ran over the first time, then that RB better not get confident because the next time he comes at me he will be laying on a stretcher needing two knee replacements. But at 6-3, 215 lbs, there was just a few RBs that was able to run me over. Two of them lost their college football hopes and a knee to the head resulted in me going to the hospital for a concussion. I don't play, ask Kevin Jones from the Bears about a safety from Peadmont HS (if you ever get lucky enough to talk to him or meet him.)

I guarantee you that you couldn't even come close to tackling me.

Hitting hard is just something to gloat about. Its totally irrelevant to coverage and usually has no form of technique. Its just a sacrifice to your body and theirs. I know alot about the position but theres always someone that knows more than you. always liked cover 2 zone CB man-to man zone

You can't even follow a conversation--I mean, really.

We were having a discussion about TO and then you suddenly started talking about how tough you were. You see where I'm going with this?

I'm not gonna say that I can or can't. I don't even know you so who the fuck are you anyway? I can say this, I won't be scared to give it hell. lol

I take it that you're probably a smaller guy, probably a RB. Very agile. Maybe I can't if you're qucker than me and I'll shake your hand either way. But you won't run over me

you're clearly just a little slow on the uptake. it's okay, i'll use that explain why you think TO is overrated because he runs his mouth.

and, just to throw fuel on the fire here...

i would run you the fuck over

edit: for all the e-haters... there's an obvious point to be had here. (disclaimer: omgcomeseemeirl)

I don't even like TO, but you've got to respect his football abilities. He's #2 all time in touchdown receptions and will be #2 all time in receiving yardage after this season.

You're not pointing anything new out to me.
TO is terrible.

You can't just have mediocre speed, mediocre catching ability, mediocre route running, mediocre against CBs and be a top receiver. Doesn't compute.

Yards and touchdowns are not everything. That depends on your offense utilizing you.
Rice was a great receiver because he had everything.
Moss was an athlete in the sense that classical music makes masterpieces while modern music makes one hit wonders.
Don Hutson was a top receiver for his exceptional hands.
Lance Alworth was the all time deep threat. He's near the top.
Chris Carter had amazing hands also, he puts TO to shame.

What does TO have?
Stats? Yes.
Ability? For sure, to some degree. But nothing like any of the receivers I just mentioned.
I guess it all depends on your perspective of "great receiver." Do you mean great as in one of the greatest of all time? Or just pretty good, better than a lot of guys, and on a heavy pass team that likes to utilize him?

If he is mediocre at everything how can he put up better statistics than everyone not named Jerry Rice? Doesn't compute.

It's a cop out to say that TO is only good because of the system he is in. He's not the second best receiver of all time, but he most certainly isn't overrated. If anything, he's become underrated due to people confusing what he does off the field with what he does on the field.

Mediocre speed is an unfair allegation...he's never been a burner but he's always had good speed, particularly game-speed. TO is much more like a Mike Williams (he sucks now) or even a Brandon Marshall. At 6'3, 225, with that strength, route running ability, and body control, he was and is stellar despite not having great hands. Headlined by Marshall, there are several receivers in the NFL now who've had success with this formula that TO essentially pioneered.

Hell, his break-out year in 1998, he was far from the only offensive threat on the team (albeit, a very good offensive team) but managed to accrue 1100 yards and 14 TDs on just 67 balls. Add to that, since 1998 he's only not eclipsed 1000 yards twice - in 1999 and in 2005 (7 games), and you have one of the most dominant receivers of all time with longevity as well.

Again, you can not like him...but to say he isn't an all time great receiver is beyond incorrect.

Edit:
To appease my own interest...
Cris Carter: 234 games, 1101 receptions, 13899 yards, 130 TDs
Jerry Rice: 303 games, 1549 receptions, 22895 yards, 197 TDs
Randy Moss: 170 games, 843 receptions, 13201 yards, 135 TDs
Terrell Owens: 189 games, 951 receptions, 14122 yards, 139 TDs

Can't argue with production like that, he's right up there with other all-time greats.
