Because I like helping people out! And if you have any halfback Questions, advice, post here

Who are you to be giving people advice on how to build HBs?

Ive been on here since season 3, have worked with, and have made some pretty successful HB's myself.

Your userid puts you around 3-4, so you probably joined on the back end of S3. Not really old but definitely not new.

I'm still waiting for the powerback post.

I'm very impatient, if you haven't noticed.

I restarted...I had a level 11 WR, 13 HB, 35 LB, and 33 CB..

Ill be laughing when your QB gets destroyed because your job was to pass block and you couldnt do it.

HB shouldnt be passblocking

they should be out in the flat waiting for a dump off or streaking down the field filling the space the blitzing MLB just left

Youve got Fb's to block for you, and if youre really running an I set where you want extra protection and you dont want your HB to go out on a route you should sub out your extra TE in the FB slot and move your FB to HB for all the blocking goodness you ever need

dont waste speed/agil/carrying points and training on blocking

I thought this was a scatback. Who would do something so stupid as to keep in his scatback to block rather than give his QB a dumpoff option.

EDIT: Would you use Darren Sproles as a blocking back or as a receiving option?

Carrying:
Powerbacks never fumble

This is simply untrue. Granted, they fumble a lot less as a result of high strength and carrying.

POWERBACKS:

A powerback is my favorite tbh, a runner that sticks his nose right into the numbers of a defender and keeps his feet moving.

The three main attributes are Strength, Carrying, and Agility

Strength:
Well of course strength, you don't want to put a guy with 10 strength on 100 power running in the tactics.
Also, it helps you keep going after first contact instead of completely stopping.

Carrying:
Powerbacks never fumble, it helps them hit the hole and not stop...and gets the defenders on the ground pretty quick if your on the outside with 2 guys to beat.

Agility:
Either HB build you go for, you have to have acceleration and thats what agility brings along with
-speed
-balance

The other three are:
Speed:
either way, it always helps to get into the endzone faster! Get to about 50 by level 22-26

Vision:
if the tackler is bigger your not going to run RIGHT into him...maybe a little head fake or cut WITH contact.

Stamina:
More contact and hard running requires more stamina.

Cap speed by level 25 though--its still a main part in getting into the enzone.
By level 30 you should have strength at 75+ because if you get to play with level 40 teams its not fun.
Also have agility at a constant rise in between levels...

Well. . . it was a nice effort anyway.

All I can say is wow. This is all pure genius. I really like the part about getting a speed backs speed up to 50 by lvl 22-26. I never really thought about it like that. It makes sense though. I mean your gonna want that high of speed eventually why not go ahead and get it there before lvl 30. Thank you cowboy 28. I feel like I really have a good base of knowledge now. Thanks again.

ITT: Mad Dog23 doesn't comprehend that this advise was for a powerback.
