In reality though guys, you saying that your player was important does not mean anybody else is going to vote for him. Active owners knows what players were strong this season, my third string corner was huge for me on many aspects of the game but hes not an All-star. A very large part of being an all-star is numbers, there is no 2 ways about that!! Randy Moss has been one of the most dominant players in the league since he entered it but when he was in Oakland he got double and triple teamed because the team had nobody else, he did not make the pro-bowl. Then he went to New England and they had 7 other options so it loosened up the coverage on him and he was a pro-bowler, why? Stats, he put up great numbers. No offense but if you players are nowhere near the top of the stat chart they probably are not and should not be all-stars. The guy leading the league in tackles is doing something right and should be rewarded!!

How about a player can only be nominated if he is in the top 10 or so of a stat category? That will limit it down some as well..just a thought

I think that's the complete opposite of what I was trying to get at.

wont work for all catagories though. like linemen also not everythings meassured stat wise. i have alt with 80 odd pancakes but i think the fact he hasn't given up a sack in 2 seasons and dont think he has given up a hurry this season is far more important

Stats don't tell everything. I definitely disagree with only nominating the people with the top stats.

If teams can nominate a certain amount of their own players for balloting, then, while there is still a good chance they won't be voted an all-star, these players at least have a better shot at it than they had before.

Well only being able to nominate 5 is way to low, esp for teams like multiple, aggies, roughnecks, and stampede

Honestly, how about teams do a 'for your consideration' list, but it's not a formal 'nomination' list. That way people can have the option of getting info without being trapped.

And Clutch, stats matter, but it's not always the stats you can follow. 'Pancakes' doesn't gauge who is the best OT; how many times the QB was hurried or sacked, how many tackles for loss, how good the HBs rushing chances are... these matter more. I think we can be mature enough to be fair.

I don't think we have to many all-stars, if you only look stat-wise, it's more a team philosophy.and yes, in the nfl, this would make it hard to make the all-star team.

Why not just have all the owners(no GMS) fill this out with players on other teams, not their own, and then we will have someone tally them up...this will avoid all our bickering and confusion. Be short and painless.

I don't know what that means....all I have been saying is basically what you just in your post, for your consideration, I used the phrase state your case. But by having the coaches nominate 5 players you are completely defeating the purpose of having an all-star team voted on by your peers. It is real simple, "For your consideration" every player or coach explains why they should be an all-star and then coaches can pick 2-4 players whether they are on the FYC list or not, they just can NOT be on their own team.

Does that sound mature and fair?

That just seems like a complete waste of time, and i doubt everyone would do it then. Cause i know for sure theres no way im getting on here to type for an hour going on about why this player is better than that player, and why so and so deserves to be on the team...have better things to do.

If they do they do and if they don't they don't. Either way each owner has to pick 2 players at every position. Your chart is perfect for that.

The Stampede doesn't need to nominate more than 5 guys. We have a solid team where everybody contributes. But we know that there are a few of us, that if they weren't on the team, then we would be nowhere.

For example, the Stampede's placekicker Numbnuts Ballbender deserves a lot of consideration even though he isn't at the top of the charts. Reason being, we know that he has almost singlehandedly won us games. He seems to come through the strongest when the rest of our offense isn't looking good. In the last game against the Aggies (and this is only one example), he hit a 43.5 yarder on the first drive which immediately put the pressure on the Aggies offense. On the second drive, he hit a 34.5 yarder. The Aggies were all of a sudden down by six points really quickly, and it wasn't even halfway through the 1st quarter when the Aggies' auto-adjust was forced to kick in and already their offense was thrown off course.

These kinds of performances and critical plays do NOT show up on the stats leaderboards. But they are still extremely important.
