"By all accounts, Mr. Kroenke is one of the most respected professional sports team owners in the world, and the professional way he and his staff good-naturedly handled this conflict gives further testament to the type of business leader he is."

I wanted very badly to believe Vince McMahon was being a giant douchebag in this whole Denver Debacle bullshit, but when you read horsecrap like this it lends regrettable credence to his side of the argument.

McMahon tried to rip them off and they sent him away. And now WWE is going to take a huge hit going to Staples Center since most of the LA people are going to being watching the Nugs v Lakers game at their house...WWE lost big time on this one. Pwned IMO

i don't think so. the show will still sell out or nearly sell out. and the nuggets paid them off to go elsewhere plus when the wwe goes back to denver they aren't going to the nugs arena. the wwe got plenty of publicity which they need since they are in a down time of their industry. the nuggets won but vince and co came out pretty clean

I don't think it will sell out...4 days in advance of the event and on a playoff game night

I don't understand why so many people in this thread would rather see a 1 on 1 matchup of unrealistic basketball rather than a 10 on 10 matchup of good basketball

Star power.

Dueling egos.

See which player can will his team to victory and make the clutch plays worthy of a champion.

I don't care about all the other scrubs and their supporting casts.

I think everybody would rather see that, but we only have the NBA right now.

Don't we learn just as much about them if neither of them can?

I'm pretty sure that McMahon and the WWE are coming out pretty well financially from all of this. They canceled 3 shows in Colorado, just to go to LA and do the two TV tapings. While I don't think it'll be a sellout, they'll paper the arena (give tix away) and let people move from the cheap seats to make it look like a full house. People who normally don't watch RAW this week will tune in, just to see what McMahon does. He's gotten a ton of free publicity that he couldn't buy if he spent millions. I think in the end, RAW will beat Game 4 in the ratings, possibly due to all of the attention that it has garnered. THe NBA should have simply moved the game to Sunday, put it on after the Indy 500 on ABC and billed it as a Conference Finals Doubleheader. I've read that the NBA stated the game "couldn't be moved," but I'm thinking had the game conflicted with a major concert or an Obama speech, etc, they would have moved the game. Hell, the NHL scheduled around Yanni...

I don't see how McMahon "tried to rip them off." The guy booked the arena last August and it was confirmed on the last day of the NBA season. But, regardless, I'm thinking McMahon is winning in the end of all of this... From what I have read, the Pepsi Center needs events outside of basketball and hockey to stay in business (as I assume most arenas do). Whether you like them or not, WWE brings in a lot of cash when they come to town. If McMahon holds a grudge and stays away from the Pepsi Center for a while, that could be a big financial blow. McMahon has stated they'll be back in Colorado in August, but not at the Pepsi Center. Instead of a RAW/SD/ECW taping, as originally planned, it will be a Saturday house show, which obviously brings in less cash.

On an interesting side note, while Ticketmaster is refunding the tickets for the canceled events, they are pocketing all of the fees and convenience charges that are tacked on when buying a ticket: http://www.myfoxla.com/dpp/sports/WWE_Leaves_Denver_Fans_Raw_20090522

I haven't really followed wrestling all that much for the last 5-6 years outside of catching random portions of shows on tv when I happen to come across it...but I am definitely planning to DVR Monday's Raw to see what Vince does.
