WARLORDS: Don't make threads about how you beat them regularly

This game was THE game to show that morale plays a huge part in games. At the outset of the game, it looked like it would be a good day for the Bats as they forced a "3 & out" and started moving the ball when they got possession. Then turnover #1 struck when Warlord free safety Tito Vodka, flying like a missile from across the field, snatches a bobbled pass away from week two MVP Robbie Maguire and takes it back for 6.

On the next Warlord possession, the Bat defense steps up and forces another "3 & out." Unfortunately, the Bat offense just can't get anything going, and the Warlords are winning the field position game. The Warlords force the punt and get the short field, and despite a good defensive effort, the Warlords boot the FG and it is 10-0.

On the next possession, the Bats finally get the offense and gear and piece together an 80 yard drive, only to have this happen -

Still trying to figure out exactly how a HB can fumble 2 yards AFTER crossing the goal line. I guess Bort never learned that crossing the goal line = touchdown in American football.

So instead of 10-7 and a "brand new ball game," it is still 10-0.

The Bat defense stands tall and forces two more "3 & outs," but the offense is reeling from the turnovers and can't seem to make a play. The stout Warlord defense is making big stops, and the Manila special teams keep pinning the Bats deep. Finally, the Warlords get the big play (and some great downfield blocking) when CC Hawkeye snags a screen and takes it 70 yards for a big score -

This makes the score 17-0, and the Bats are desperately searching for answers. But instead of answers, they find more trouble when Bat gunslinger Sam Wylde decides it is a good idea to throw into triple coverage -

The Warlords take advantage of the short field and punch it into the end zone to make it 24-0.

The Bats are never able to recover as the stifling Warlord defense, riding high on emotion, clamps down and shuts down the South Austin offense. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Mark-
Great write-up.

The Manila D stepped up huge and flexed it's collective muscle today. I've been tinkering with some things and it looks like it's starting to come together.
