I agree, the level cap for incoming players should be there. The balance for it would be to have maybe 3 or 4 teams "relegated" each year from the higher leagues. That way the "gutted" teams at the top levels, would end up moving down, creating more room for the better lower-rung teams in the highest leagues. That would give everyone more incentive to win, and eventually, the best teams would be in the highest leagues, and the worst would be in the lowest leagues.

Some flexibility with the cap is needed because we've seen that a lower-level team that works together well and has good gameplans can and will beat higher level teams with crappy gameplans and no coordination.

My LOLB was one of the first players to sign with my team. When we aquired him he was a Lvl 9. It just so happened that he was sitting on a couple of boosts that I never new about, nor asked him to use. With XP and boosting he's now a Lvl 17, but he's nowhere near the top in the league in LB stats. So you're telling me, given some of the proposed changes, that because he's several levels higher than the average in my league that I would have to part ways with him or his morale will suffer and ultimately penalize my team? Well I'd have to tell you to kiss my ass.

Second, a lot of us have players that we created last season that we were forced to sign with other teams because they ran out of ones to buy. Now that I have been fortunate enough to buy my own team you're telling me when their contracts expire I can't have my own guys back, who I labored over countless hrs to build up, without penalty because they're a few levels higher than the average? Again, I would have to tell you to kiss my ass. You call then "ringers" if you want, I call them my property.

I agree that it would be ridiculous for an owner in the BBB to sign level 20 players just to gain an advantage, but if he has the power to do so then far be it from me to tell him he can't just because a bunch of newbie owners can't compete.....personally I think strategy and game planning can neutralize that sort of thing.

There are already checks and balances in place to combat that. The lower leagues like ours have lower income to start, which makes it very difficult to maintain a high level roster. Plus they added a minimum salary cap per level that means every time you have to give a player an equip bonus you have to pay him a much higher base salary. AND they have also added the trade/signing penalty to team chemistry for bringing high level players to a roster mid season. If you don't think that hurts a team just ask the Las Vegas Heat, who we hammered 80-0 because their team chemistry was shit.

What I'm saying is that there are already measures in place to level the playing field so there is no real need for more penalties, just let nature take its course. If you don't believe me then take a look at my current income and daily salary....you think it's easy to manage a high level roster in the BBB??

If you're going to put a cap on player levels, then you really need to allow more teams to move up and down a level each season.

Right now, if the cap were to be set at 15 for BBB3, I would have one player over, and two players at 15. with a couple of games left this season, I would then have my three best players taking hits going into the playoffs.

Theres a good chance that my team will not be one of the two teams moving up next season.

That would mean then, after removing the two top teams that the average player level will drop some. Since I'm not moving up next season, I will have 10-14 players over level 15 a couple games into season 3. Now I realize that the cap is flexible depending on the average player rating for the league.

But the top team not moving up is going to likely be taking a big hit the next season. Now if you move the top and bottom 4 teams each season, then this problem would be somewhat lessened.

THERE SHOULD ALSO BE A LOW-END CAP. The good teams in a league shouldn't be punished because some team in the league sucks ass or gets gutted.

If a team has an average player level of 5 is in a league where the average team outside of said team is at level 12 then the calculations shouldn't count that team.

I agree, the good teams should not be punished because of weak owners/teams.

Almost every single one of my players will be Lvl 15 or higher by the end of the season, and I already have 4 that are at least that. The reason for that is because we had a game plan in the offseason. The devs delayed the player boosting for an extra week so we built 98% of our roster during that time and spent our hard earned money boosting and equipping them. Now tell me what happens to my team if they implement these penalties and we happen to lose and are stuck in the BBB for another season?

I guess, I don't see any problems at all with his proposal. He is allowing BBB teams to sing players up to a certain level, but resign any players currently on the team, no matter what their level. This allows friends to play together and advance. It simply stops people from signing ringers in to screw with the league.

It should stop that level 22 halfback from coming in and wiping out all competition.

I think it sounds like a good idea.

And if a manager can get that level 22 HB to come down, more power to him.

If that team that does that actually wins their division on the back of that ONE player, then the division wasn't that good and that team will get their asses handed to them at the next level.

I haven't seen one single example of a lvl 22 player in the BBB. If there is one please post a link so we can see this first hand. I agree with Laser, if I my team can't game plan to stop one player then we're not that good anyway.

And for what it's worth, if my team remains in the BBB next season then the teams in my division need to be advised now....I have other players out there that I will be brining back sooner or later and they are better than the ones I have now, so get your crying out of the way now.

I'm done with this topic. I've said what I have to say and now it's time to get back to planning a championship run.

I just have a problem with getting punished for creating a good team.

now maybe if they added a clause saying that you cant BRING IN a player thats outside the top level, but you won't get punished for developing a player higher than the level.

Meaning, if the cap is set at 15, you can't sign a level 16 free agent, but if you have a level 13 and he plays his way up to level 16 that you don't get punished.

chuckle, that is exactly what Bort is proposing. A level on the initial signing of a player. If he sets the level to 15, you can sign up to 15th level players, and they can level while on your team. If somehow you end up with a level 22 guy who wants to resign with your team, there is no restriction.

what kasu just said is the new idea bort is throwing around. Teams can stick together but will not punish teams who leveled together.

well then by all means do it. I only read what's been posted here. I'm not about to spend an hour reading through all the pages of the other threads.

also, I didn't see the other newer thread where he posted the exact same idea that i just came up with. which he came up with first.

good for him.

Dallas Orangebloods brought in a bunch of decently levelled players to create their team. Serenity put together a nsty team with some higher level players. Other teams that are at the top of the league have done the same thing. Was it wrong? Hell no, they operated well within the framework that was defined and built very nice teams.

Now, let's say as the Marauders owner, I decide that I really want to win my league. I have access to another team that is going no where in the USA Pro, so I pull their level 16ish QB, level 18 HB, level 18 WR, 2 level 16 Guards and that level 22 kicker just for giggles. I do this the day before the trade deadline, so no one else can react to it. Oh, and once they get here, they all boost. The chances are pretty decent that I will walk through the playoffs.

That is what this is addressing. You can still build your kick ass team, you are just limited in which level players you can initially sign. You can still play with all your buddies, as once they are on the team, they can continuosly re-sign with the team, you just can't sign higher than the limit players.

In another words, you weren't good enough to develop a game plan to beat the other teams in your division while using players about equal to theirs, so instead of trying to figure out why you suck, you are simply going to go hire high levels to win the games for you?
