GLB is expanding with new teams added every offseason. I am unsure why people have a bad game and they throw hissy fits on the forum, call Bort a bunch of names, and say his product is getting worse. it's simply not true. Even when I am frustrated as hell at the game, I know that not a single one of us matters in the grand scheme because there are thousands more waiting to get into the game who don't even know about it yet. I find sometimes I can't get people to sign up as referrals because they can't view the website without signing up and they dont' know what it is (they're also scared shitless when you tell them it's pay-to-play). So it's just funny reading you gripe.
The only problem I have with the game is how much time it takes. The D-creator has only compounded the time issues.
Instead of a play creator, all we need are some drop down boxes inside the Defense AI that allows you to assign coverage assignments....because that is the ONLY thing I've used the D-creator for. I could accomplish the same exact tasks in a much easier fashion.. but I really don't expect it to change.
You give these fools a new toy (the DPC) and they are going to obsess over it, and that's just how it is. The one failure I see with Bort is that he is completely clueless and doesn't know how to run a business. He's just a code guy posing as an entrepreneur, so it's questionable to me if GLB will ever do anything more than what it currently is until Bort sells. But he can't sell until he improves the site, so it becomes a chicken or the egg situation.
GLB is expanding..according to who? last time I saw it there were D league teams with 6 human players and BBB teams in expansion leagues that are CPU. Supply exceeds demand. GLB is shrinking in terms of FP purchases and the number of new people finding the site decreases every month. These are facts.
I don't care about a "bad game"..I've been here a year, I've had bad games...I've had good games...I've won championships on missed FG's, I've lost championships on missed XP's...I just want something that is improving and consistent. Today, the US Pro team I OC/DC lost to the HHW cuz of an 18 yard missed fg with 30 seconds left. The kicker has 75 confidence, has missed 3 XP's out of his last 400 and has never missed a FG under 20..ever. How is this possible? cuz this sim is really bad.
I don't hate bort, I like bort..he's always been fair to me, a year ago he had a nice product. But the sim CONTINUES to get more complex and less enjoyable...it's very expensive..and well, I can feel about it however I want, so I will. Why would I spend 1-2 hours a game, every game scouting and setting up AI's to lose a game on a missed FG that should never happen?
Add in the fact that the AI doesn't fire correctly (it doesn't, see the bug logs) and this thing is becoming a waste of time.
As far as the teams that have "Done Fine" every season. Everybody has their ups and downs, some teams do well every season cuz they started out on day 1..have the highest level players and got a nice head start. That's all..some teams are really consistent like MEM (who hasn't won a title in 4 seasons) or Santiago, 99% of other teams get tired of the effort required to chase their tail here and bounce.
I will leave it at this.
Did you know that certain Oline positions aren't coded to recognize safties? You can blitz safties ALL DAY through certain gaps and the Oline will pretend they aren't there. It tends not to matter cuz Safties never get sacks because the Dot Size to Field Size is off and blitzers have to go too far relative to their size to get to the QB. However bort knows this, it's a huge problem...instead of fixing something like this, his first big change in the offseason was.....
Customizable Color Dots.
Comeon man, that should tell you all you need to know about how seriously he cares about how viable this is as a sports simulation.
