I'd bet if Bort actually ran a poll about VA removal, he would be shocked by how overwhelming the response in favor of taking them out would be. He'll never do that, and he'll never remove them, but if he did his game might improve dramatically overnight and everybody would love him again. Oh well, them's the breaks I guess.
I don't think VAs are the problem. The problem is Bort's absolute lack of foresight in determining what is balanced and what is not. He's demonstrated this in almost every facet of the game.
true, but the VAs take the cake. Many are horribly underpowered, Some are overpowered, and only a small subset actually augment the players' build.
That's not the VAs fault. When I came up with the concept, I had nothing in mind like the cluster f*** bort turned it into. He should have just let me come up with the implementation.
Yeah that is why I am against getting rid of VA's. Because I think if they're done right it's a really great idea that can add specialization/customization to my player.
Since they came out including this season I had quite a few of my players go down paths with VA's that didn't seem to be the generally accepted requirements, and I have a feeling that a lot of the top teams did the same thing too, but were better at picking them than I was.
I definitely enjoyed those players a lot more than I did ones that were just cookie cutter. It was fun to see how a concept or theory translated to the field/sim. A lot of results really surprised me too.
