Lbers/MLB,and ILBers can't be built like a CB and be effective in taking on PBs,meant to be quicker versions of the Dlinemen ?

TEs are built like WRs, so LBs have to be built like CBs.

Balanced builds FTW.

Except when offenses send in their TE built like a Center, and the defense remains clueless.

Which exposes just how immature the coding of the game is. In the past 90 days GLB is becoming a "Spec" game, everyone has the same build +/- 5 points here and there and hope they come out on top in the Sim.

Considering how long it takes builds to mature, loopholes exposed in season 5 and 6 should now be showing up in season 9. It's been said at least 1000 times by hundreds of people. Until players are actually built for their position then the game will continue to have these problems and such wild nerf/berf/tweak's will continue every off-season.

Look at the predominant cookie cutter builds that are in the game today. TE's built like WR's, which forced LB's to build out like CB's to cover them. Safeties built like CB's to keep up with WR's that dump everything into speed.

Until the relationship between attribute vs. position is re-examined, the game will never take that next step.

The problem is everyone on defense went after the same speed based defense, which opened the door to Power built OLs and PBs
If the leading the receiver passing comes in to play in season 9,Passing teams will be on the rise.
So far offenses side looks fine along with the leading the receiver passing.
Now you will have several different types of offenses,if the PBs do get nerfed then everyone will switch to passing stye of teams.
As stated keep PBs as is along with the leading the receiver passing, gives us 4 different types of offenses perhaps more.
Passing
PB rushing
SB rushing
Balanced

Powerbacks are really going to suck in season 9.

I dont like the fact that many believe a back should be weaker in the fourth quarter. A majority of the great backs had higher YPC in the fourth quarter than any other, because they made their living beating up on defenses they wore down. That is one of the main advantages of a strong running game.

I agree with tmarze. If a powerback with over 100 strength and a bunch of points in SAs like Power Through can't truck guys with strength in the 20s, then what the heck would be the point of making one? What sort of build should you have to have to run like Earl Campbell?

These are the plays that have me lose confidence in the sim engine:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=471520&pbp_id=18468804

There's no way a 100-strength DT with an untouched path to the HB, hits him right at the handoff and the HB brushes him off like a fly (and goes on to brush 3-4 other clear path defenders on the same run). In the history of professional football, I can't ever recall seeing a strong DT with a clear path to the HB simply bounce off him when hitting at the handoff. The HB has no momentum at the point on impact.

Yet, even if you bought that it could happen, he would be seriously staggered at a minimum and need to regather himself before continuing on.

The fact that this play happens makes me think there is simply a discrete "dice roll" for each tackle with no "common sense" factor in play. A DT gets the same "roll chance" if he's hitting the back in the backfield as if he's catching him from behind (with the back having a full head of steam).

In other words, if it's predetermined the back triggers "power thru" for the play - you can have a mack truck steamroll the HB during the handoff and it won't slow him down.

I personally don't think they should just get weaker if it's late in the game just because it's late in the game, just if they've been running the ball a stupid amount of times. You're definitely right about wearing down a defense late on, but what we are currently seeing is the RB NEVER wearing down which is simply dumb. There's a difference between wearing a team down with a strong running game and ONLY running it no matter what after all. if a team is running it [with a variety of run plays] with a COUPLE of backs, then fair enough... but one... all game...

Stop repeating this same stupid nonsense. Testers and many regular sim examples have proven beyond the shadow of any doubt that power back dominance is NOT, NOT, NOT about defensive builds. It just isn't. That's an excuse used by people who want power backs to be overpowered because they can blame the problem on someone else, but it flat out is not true. For the most part, there is no level of tackling or strength that makes defenders able to stop a great power back.
