without level gains.
if I go 68 speed and 78 agility at level 40 it's 98 speed and 78 agility.
you go 73/73. you put 26 in speed 99 speed and 4 in agility to make it 77 agility.
i completely understand this concept.
I also mentioned 68 is the minimum. For newer guys they might get worried about taking it up to a higher extreme. I am all for taking speed up to 73 as well.
The math really isn't as simple as you'd think, when you start throwing in level gains. On the way up.
But either way it's solid.
It's also rumored that natural ability work in increments. So a natural 78 is better than a natural 73 with 4 equipment in it. (77)
I'm not talking about a 1 point difference. I am talking about a real noticeable in game difference. As in, since you are still down at the 5:1 cap. the other is in the 6:1 cap and slowly inching up into caps you will never naturally hit. The 5:1 cap increment bonus' are less than the 6:1 cap increment bonus, and so on and so forth. I completely expect that theory to get flamed. Just like back in season 5 when I said diving sacks existed and got flamed hard core for that. Now there is evidence in the sim daily, that diving sacks, in fact, do exist and always have.
Anyway that's neither here nor there.

Waaaaiiit a minute, this is pretty retarded. You are making a speed DE without bringing first step to 10?
Basically you are suggesting a 49-61 str 100 speed 85 agi, 6-8 FS 8 CD and 10 in TV/SB (since it "rocks" im just guessing) And at that finding a 3+ speed (!!!!) TV/SB AEQ? It's a pretty impossible build. Even if it was, it would still suck in AAA+

I personally don't like first step for an end. Some guys do.

it is possible, your 29 DE would probably be on track for the lvl 32 goal if his SP from SAs and strength had been spent in speed/agi. i personally prefer not to spend SP in attributes when it costs 4:1, but it is doable.
as for it's effectiveness, it's great against OTs that havent raised spd/agility/protector yet ... but once they have, well i've kinda lost faith that any build is worth calling a sack specialist at that point.

This build is pretty much accurate. The spd/agi has been well known since like season 3, but its worth reiterating and the fifth soft cap seems about right to me. The subtleties come in how much str/vision do you want and when to spend the skill points on those versus your specials. Some of it depends on how important you think those skills are, some just on how patient you are slowbuilding. I'm very patient. My DE won't really be ready until his 6th season or so.

Bumping this thread because of how great it is. UnderDogs really came through on this one.
Also, to stay on topic, I'm kind of doing the opposite of the OP. Started out with Speed, now I'm increasing Agility.

Currently sitting on 78.27/75.27 Speed/Agility without EQ. Plan is to push Agility up to = Speed regardless of how many points it takes. EQ is actually in Agility because I'd rather look like Jimmy Johnston than Julius Dee.

I agree. Speed was better for a little bit, then this stun thing came a long and put agility back on top.
So I switched his equipment around.
Still not done with the build but he should start getting better once str gets up to 61 and vision stamina are capped.
It's hard to make a guide really, since this game is always changing at it's core.
And right now I am really watching him and debating on whether or not I want to raise str any higher at this point. Maybe later.

it seems like the best players are the ones who build their player realistically and just use EQ to adapt to whatever changes come. If I had to guess, I'd say that guys like Adam Avalanche and Vanilla Ice originally had the norm for DTs - lots of Strength, decent Agility, and moderate to low Speed. Then people started preaching Agility, they switched their EQ to Agility and started pumping it and Speed, and BOOM. They exploded onto the scene with tons of sacks.
