I distinctly remember Darkstrand promoting the idea around the start of season 2.

It is pretty dumb though to claim that you came up with the ssb idea. It is so obvious (once attribute gains, caps came to light) that I imagine this idea was co-discovered by many different people independently.

VA's killed lower level teams. You can dominate the lower level leagues but you have a rude awakening coming when you start facing teams with 20 levels on your boys. Experience scaling and vet points have already doomed your slow build team.

Sure you will be at a VA disadvantage as a slow build team going up against like-leveled teams. But what happens when all the older players have to retire, and your player becomes one of the highest levels out there? Then you will be unstoppable.

Yep, I remember Caponesgun talking about wanting to SSB some guys back in S2 or S3.

It doesn't favor higher level players with bad builds, it favors higher level players in general. Good and bad builds alike. I don't think there is anything wrong with rewarding players for reaching high levels. That's why they're called vet points. Veterans have inherent advantages in real life, too.

Absolutely right. Having said that, as strong as the builds are on Mith's team, assuming he gets to AA after 2 seasons and his players arrive there all full of piss and vinegar at level 32, how do you think they'll fare against the level 45-50 players that will be there? The level 32 players will in all likelihood have stronger builds than the 45-50's, the team itself will be better than the 45-50's, but they will be down 20+ vet points to every one of those players.

You will see them as a 60 overall on the scouting bars and they'll be losing to soft 57's all because of vet points. As the poster above said, no way they make it to the Pros.

Also, don't forget the 8 eq. points.

lol who knows, but they cant even go undefeated in A league they arent exactly the greatest team ever

and all this slow build nonsense is just that - nonsense. wow you gain MAYBE 2 or 3 points over someone else by the time you both hit level 30 or so. big freaking deal

You have no idea of the math involved here.

Take a level one player. Park him on a bench for three seasons. He gets only the base daily XP for those three seasons, no game XP, and he trains intense twice every five days all through the season and the offseason.

Now put him on a level 13-cap club. He's had a bare minimum of 32 extra intense training sessions over a standard-build in that league. That's a lot more than "2-3 points"....

But players could go to season 15-116 before skills start to actually deteriorate enough to make a difference, meanwhile they will still be acquiring vet points, so they will still maintain that advantage.

That super slo mo built team might make a run in pro in season 16, then deteriorate. Problem for teams slow building now is the teams a season or 2 behind them won't be as far behind your players in VA's like teams are now since season 1 and 2 players got a significant boost over season 3 players due to how the script was run to favor create date leading to the insane VA advantage.

Well nobody knows exactly how it's going to work. The point is in the same point in your career, you will be a much better player than one who was not slow built. Unless it is really early on of course, since you will be really imbalanced or if you haven't applied SP yet. Not to mention a slow built player probably has higher base stats so VAs would help them even more. Think about the long run. Sure a season 1 regular player is probably better than a season 4 slow built player now, but when that Season 4 guy is in his 8th season, he will be a lot more effective than that season 1 guy ever was.

I can't wait until Mith's team runs into higher level teams in AA that he kills on every scouting bar by between 3 and 6, yet loses games because he is 20 levels behind and is giving up 15 to 20 vet points to every player on the roster. Not because I want Mith to fail, but because it will take something like this to happen before people fully realize that the vet point system is too heavily weighted toward older players with bad builds.

I think you two are discussing different things. halo is talking about SSB and sik is talking about SB.
