QR doesn't mean your QB throws the ball right away, that is because of vision checks not QR.

Not sure if any of you have ever played football. I never played the QB position, but I do know that QR is how fast you throw the ball. Kind of like Dan marino how the second he sees an open guy it was gone. When the QB throws it to the WR right away it's because he has high vision and noticed, not because of quick release

you are making a logical assumption and this game is not always logical in application.

No, that's pretty much exactly what Bort said it was. QR makes the throwing animation shorter. That's it.

You're thinking way too one dimensional here. So far the game has been balanced around a specific release speed. Who is to say that the sim doesn't break when the release speed is faster? Who is to say that QBs don't begin throwing to WRs before they're open, and the WR becomes open as the QB throws? Quick Release would screw this up and get the ball out before the WR breaks open increasing the likelihood that a pick will be thrown.

Simulations don't always work like you expect or think they will. There are dozens of things going on all at once during the sim, and changing something like your QBs release time could drastically screw things up.

I think it helps in sack avoidance.

Here is a good example of what I believe to be quick release working.

LOL, you guys are funny. All these videos of QBs throwing right after the snap, that is not what a quick release is, that is a check down or a designed screen.

Quick Release defines how long it takes a QB to get the ball out once he's made his mind up on where to throw. Dan Marino = Quick Release Byron Leftwhich = Slow release, we also call this a wind up.

Which has what to do with the QB throwing the ball earlier in the play, which is what I quoted and commented on?

That is why I've been successful in GLB. This game is almost all common sense but everyone makes it overly complicated. It's Basic, quit making it tough.

For Example: People said that at first tackling helped you block so some idiots put points into tackling. If you use common sense, you'd realize that makes absolutely 0 sense

Thank you. Someone educated.

yes it is common since and logical that you can make a 300 pound lineman as fast as most WRs. It's also common that on most good teams, the faster and most agile player on the team is the defensive end. It's also logical that tackling raises .5 per level for offensive tackles, where blocking and strength are only raised .4. Linebackers can be efficient in this game with low strength and tackling. Catching and jumping are minor skills for QBs. There are SAs that lower pass interference calls, yet there is no pass interference in the game after 6 and 1/4 seasons. Blocking helps defenders release blocks? Strength doesn't effect how far a QB throws (it was true last season I haven't seen anyone post results yet this season (the QB on my team last season had 35 strength and threw the ball over 60 yards in the air multiple times which is the same distance my 60 strength QB has thrown)), that's very logical.

I'm not arguing quick release doesn't just effect how fast the ball leaves the QBs hand, but we have no way of knowing if it triggers it makes the QB quicken his read. I've seen stranger things out of the sim.

If you go by logical assessment of QBs, agility would be a major skill as a QB's footwork is as important when assessing QBs as throwing motion and ability to read coverages. We all know that is not the case.

Normal Release:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=291033&pbp_id=3621166

Quick Release:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=291033&pbp_id=3631481

Notice the difference in the throwing animation, in the normal release you can clearly see the QB cock the arm back before passing, in the quick release replay the ball is released instantly giving the CB no time to react and come back for the ball.

I have Quick release at 10 which means it should work about 50% of the time, though I actually find it being more like 35% of the time.

I dunno if it has anything to do with it but I have been sacked less and had a way higher completion % after getting quick release and laser arm up.
