I'm assuming it's a whole bunch of stuff. There're no definitive answers and I doubt Bort would give any because it's like Confidence, but...

- % chance to read the play (run/pass)
- % chance to jump a route
- % chance for deflection/interception
- % chance to make the tackle/stop them from a first down/force a fumble

That sort of thing is what I'm guessing.

I'll wait to see. If it is anything good, I'll definitely add it to the top 5. For now, though, I'll just put it as variable since it could be some awful bonus.

I'm a little confused on Jackhammer. By knocking it loose, do they mean causing a fumble or just causing an incomplete pass because of the hit. Not worded great.

Probably incomplete pass because it's hitting right when it touches his hands...

I'd say a lot depends on what safety you play and what your teams defense is like. If you play FS and a lot of Cover 1 and Cover 2 then points spent in Zone Specialist might be pretty useful.

yeah, but with zone specialist .... if u are only running zone in 50% of your plays, and the other team runs the ball 50% of the time, then the bonus is only in effect 25% of the plays in the game. I think it's more beneficial to look at bonuses that are in effect through out the game at all times.

For a SS, Show Boat + Jackhammer looks like a good combo. If a successful Jack Hammer = PD.

thats a very good point, but i think it would count as a 'drop'

cause thats how it counts in real football. If a receiver gets hit hard right after he 'catches' it and drops it, the defensive player is not awarded a PD... it just ends up being one of those 'intangibles' that doesn't go down in the stat books

Jackhammer says it give a +3% bonus to jarring the ball loose, etc

but is this multiplicative to the % chance one would already have of breaking up the completion much like forcing a fumble? if this is the case, what would you think the percentage to break up a completion would be?
just figured this would be important to determine if this could be a useful school.

a multiplicative increase on a base of 50% would be huge, but not so much on 5%...

That's the million dollar question. What's the base chance of breaking up a completion?

I'd guess it would depend on build. One way to possibly answer the question is to review film and see how many times your player knocks a ball loose after making contact. There's plenty of times I've seen receivers look like they should have caught a ball only to have it knocked away. If this happens relatively often, I would think a few levels of jack hammer would work well. If it's happening once every game or two, it's probably not a good investment.

This explaination probably doesn't help answer the question though. More theory than substance.

This could have been an opportunity, and maybe this is what it's supposed to help with. It seems my strong safety makes a lot of tackles right after the ball is caught. Maybe instead of a PD, it's simply knocking the ball loose on a jarring hit like Stone Mason describes.

It's the little details that add up over the course of the game

I'd compare it with FFum - let's say you get 5 FFum a season on 100 tackles (which I think would be pretty good), then you're looking at a 5% base. If the same goes for smacking a receiver, then even maxing out Jackhammer (45% bonus) would only increase your base to just under 7.5%. Or an extra 2 or 3 times a year.... hopefully my math is alright, but it doesn't seem as good as some of the others
