What's your goal for lifting weights? are you cutting, bulking, sports, etc?

Well, I'm getting older. I just want to look tone, I guess. I can't get that from playing tennis/running/biking. I have trouble keeping weight on and I look like a stick if I don't lift. I am not trying to look musclebound or anything.

It'll be your diet (more than likely), what do you eat on an average day?

no all he needs is dat der celltech

usually some eggs in the am
cheese/fruit/lara bars/granola bars for lunch
fish/chicken/turkey and various vegetables in the pm

I don't eat red meat. I don't eat fast food.

The last thing I want to do is to drink those funky protein shakes. I did that in high school, and they tasted like shit.

IMO you have to eat a lot more than that to gain weight. I would prefer 5-6 meals, a snack in between the meals you currently have. Don't get protein then (though recommended) but eat before and after you work out. Protein is a must in every meal too! Maybe 30g+ of Protein.

since you said that you were older and that was in HS, protein powder is much improved in taste.

some basic whey (optimum nutrition) has good flavor. mix that with fruit+milk and it should tastes pretty good.

Thx generel, I might try it. Milk is in my "don't consume" list like red meat is though.

I think we may be getting away from my question. I just want to know why I'm no longer sore after workouts now, and if it will hurt me if I lift more often.

I'm not going to start eating red meat becuase it has more protein. If someone can get more specific (I can handle the science, if you want to get deep into it) then I welcome it. I have a hard time buying that I should eat red meat over fish, if the fish I eat give me more protein g/cal than the cow does. I suppose my question was possibly embedded with other nutrition issues, and you guys are getting to the bottom of it, and I appreciate the help. The red meat is likely never going to happen.

Sorry if it's been answered but why no red meat or milk?

A silly philosophical thing that isn't germane to nutrition. In short, I have adopted certain tree hugger ideals and rejected others. Yes, I embrace my hypocrisy

Well, it just depends on a lot of things.

I'll copy/paste my diet for today:
Originally posted by

Breakfast: Bowl of Porridge (Oats) with raisins and two hard boiled eggs.
Between breakfast and lunch: 4 Beef Burgers (two per-bun).
Lunch: Scrambled Eggs (4) with Ham and an 80gram steak.
Dinner: Cod with vegetables and potatoes.
Supper: Tuna salad.

Supplements: Nutrisport 90+ Protein

That's like 220g of protein + about 300ish of carbs and about 80g of fat. I'm 178lbs and 8ish% bodyfat. (I can see my abs). I am aiming for 210+ and lower fat, to do that I'd need to add 1 or 2 more decent meals.

So a lot of it is likely your diet, normally feeling sore can mean many things, tendons, muscles, etcetera, have all been "ripped" and if they have then when they repair they'll grow.

But I don't ever get sore in some parts of my body and they'll grow fine, so it depends on a lot of people. If you can constantly ramp weight up and keep increasing it, then you are doing it right reguardless of how sore you get.

If you are struggling with adding more weight, then that is likely down to your routine.
