Despite 74 Catching he had 19 drops last season and 3 so far this season.

Drops are really hard to predict. It seems like every time I decide to put a lot of points into catching after boosting my WR he responds with twice as many drops as he would normally get. At the start of the season I put about 7 points into catching to soft cap it and the very first game after that he dropped 6 passes against a bad team we beat 73-14. Same QB, same offensive scheme and last season in 16 games he only dropped 13 total.

My QB didn't increase his strength or change passing styles, he just worked on vision, throwing and Field General (to help with drops). We didn't deviate from the previous season's normal passing settings much yet with 7 more in catching he drops almost half of his previous season's total in 1 game. Since then we have faced much tougher opposition every week and he has only dropped 1 more in 3 games. My WR's confidence is relatively high too since I was trying to prevent multiple drop games.

My WR had 62 Catches last year, with only 4 drops - with only about 35-38 in Catching.

The thing is, you can't judge a WRs catching ability from drops. The higher his catching attribute is, the more passes he attempts to go up and get - therefore making him more likely to catch more passes, but also more likely to drop more passes.

The logic is pretty backwards, I agree. But WRs with high catching shouldn't get discouraged with drops, as usually the WR with the most catching on a team, is usually the one with the most drops.

I'm under the impression that if you soft-cap Catching and Vision, then those points in Vision could seriously reduce those drops as well, but I can't say for sure, as neither of my WRs have softcapped catching or vision... I will soft cap catching this season, but it hasn't been a priority.

The reason no one wants to go past the softcap in catching is its not a very sexy attribute odviously...

Jumping is more important than vision.

I don't know that there is proof, only personal anecdotes. Jumping has really helped my WR cut down on drops, but I imagine more vision would as well.

From what Bort has said, both help. Piecing together the tidbits Bort has said, jumping helps you get balls that are too high and too low. Vision(and agility) helps your guy adjust his route to catch a poorly thrown pass.

So, from what I can tell...everything helps. I imagine that at the end of the day which helps more is likely dependent on your QB, the types of routes your guys run and how the defense is built. Not everyone will come up with the same answer. Heck, it could even come down to the height you rolled where a shorter WR may want to go VIS and a taller go JMP. I really don't know.

I like jumping, but I think vision is good as well.
