No. No. No.

Yes, it is. Well, in real life, it is. If it is a zone in this game, I have lost all respect for the developers.

You're missing what the coverage schemes actually mean. They are just defensive shells. You can run any zone or man defense you want out of any coverage shell. (Except Cover 0, which is obvious)

Just because not many RL teams run a cover 1 zone doesn't mean that "Cover 1 is man to man". That's not what cover 1 means. Cover 1 refers to the shell, not the entire package.

Man, we could use a chalk board. OK. If I am understanding you correctly, you are saying that a Cover 1/Zone would be

CB...........LB...........LB............LB............CB
.............................FS...............................

...or some variation of LB blitz out of this. Is that correct? If so, I want to face the DC that uses that.

Cover 1 Zone is the same as a Cover 2 Zone only the SS acts as a LB with a shorter zone and the FS is the center fielder in a deeper zone.

Thats gotta be one hell of a FS to cover the whole field sideline to sideline.

So both sidelines are uncovered? I understand it now, it any DC that would use that would be fired instantly. Verts will kill it.

Very true. Which is why Cover 1 man/zone is made strictly for a run imo. GLB wise of course. You need a very fast and high vision safety to stop from getting burned but it would do wonders against the run.

Cover 1 (man) is great against the pass if the CBs are better than the WRs, too.

You would also need a nice defensive line because even in a cover 1 man, if the QB gets time and goes downfield, the FS will have a hard time covering both sides of the field.

Just imagine a SS walking towards the line before the snap in the nfl putting eight men in the box. Same thing here only there is no pre snap movement.

yeah, but the zone part is not right. What are the corners responsbilites? Who do they pass off the WR's too. Like msupoke wrote, verts will kill you.

I think it is just a matter of terminology for you. In GLB corners are always playing man unless they are in a cover 3 0r 4. The zone part in glb only refers to the linebackers

In man, the FS is just help over the top. Every receiver would be covered already.

They are in man in cover 2? If so, I will start exploiting that, too. If the LBs are in zone, while everyone else is in man, there will be huge problems.

Can one of the developers please respond? Is the defensive AI realistic?

CBs are always in Man unless they are pulled back into Cover 2+ shell zone (for instance, if you have C2 and blitz the SS, I believe CB2 drops back into the C2 zone... not actually sure, never done it. Cover 3 Shell is CB - FS - CB back). Underneath zone/man toggle controls LBs.

Short version - the only way to be sure about what happens in GLB is put the settings in and watch the PBP. Outside expectations on coverage resposibilities will hurt more than help you.

Very few teams put their linebackers in zone because it is very easy to exploit most only play man to man underneath

We are one of those few teams......
