At what level do you start seeing results with this? My LB is in a capped league and I've done nearly exactly what youve listed up top (no points in strength, focus on speed, get agility close, working on jumping and vision.... But up til lvl 13 I haven't seen much in terms of results.

Strength: 23.43 Blocking: 13
Speed: 63.57 Tackling: 17.97
Agility: 49.39 Throwing: 8
Jumping: 14.62 Catching: 13
Stamina: 25.97 Carrying: 8
Vision: 17.16 Kicking: 9
Confidence: 15.97 Punting: 8

All equipment in speed, no points in SAs other than CE, max height, 1lbs off max weight.... Am I just going to be lackluster until I get my vision up as this season progresses? Not to hijack this into a 'omg gimme advice for my build' but was just wondering when this build starts to shine.

doesn't strength play a role in shedding blocks?

I ask this because I originally intended on my LB to focus on pass rushing so I softcapped his strength...I'm not really used as a pass rusher that much though so I have no sacks to show for it, but still would like to know if the strength is still useful for shedding blocks and such (last season I played ROLB...while this one I'm now LOLB and so far so good)

VISION VISION VISION!
your speed is high enough for a long while. vision should get to 30 asap. and while he said don't soft-cap tackling he didnt mean leave it in the teens. i'd try to get that to 25 by lvl 6

(1) Don't pump strength to more than 25.
(2) Don't pump tackling to more than 35.
(3) Focus (but don't necessarily max one and then switch to the next attribute) on Speed as your primary, agility as your secondary and vision as the third.

You are just softcapping and moving to the next attribute. Meaning more of a 55/40/32 split rather than a 64/49/17. You are on the right track its just than LBs require more of a balance than other positions. Just get vision to 32-35 and tackling and stam to 30. Train your confidence/jumping/ and catching up in the meantime. Don't train a major category with a LB. There are too many tertiary categories that affect LB play that would be neglected if you took that route.

edit: plus you are a backup getting 30 snaps a game (don't know how many of those are on special teams also)

Your LB's pass rushing stats are more dependent upon your defensive AI than anything. Your team scheme has the most to do with it. I tweaked 3 of my teams AI and our LBs are getting mad sacks this year. Probably more than our DEs combined.

To answer your original question specifically.. . You would think it would play a huge part but that linebacker is dead meat if he gets engaged with a center/guard/ or tackle and might have a fighting chance by outmanuevering the FB. How quickly do you think a 60 strength linebacker will shed an 80 strength lineman. Not so much. Your LB sacks will come from speed off the edge or the middle when the interior line is engaged by the DL. I've hardly ever seen ANY LB come up with a sack when he has even been chipped by a blocker. More agile/faster=more success more often

All you can do is build accordingly and hope a LB blitz gets called while you are in the game.

I don't think I have more than 2 points in any SA for any linebacker (except D-gen for my MLB)
this information is off, because if "high Defense General" is 8, then Monster Hit is required to be 4 b/c it's 4th on the tree and Defense General is 5th.

Your math is correct but no one ever said anything about getting D-gen to 8. I think that is excessive especially with a linebacker needs points in so many critical categories. Getting Monster Hit to 3 (a 2 naked) and D-Gen to 5( a 4 naked) is reasonable and thrifty with your points.

Those SA's are so ambiguous and virtually impossible to quantify any kind of tangible contribution. You will never know if having D-Gen at 8 is working but you will have thrown 20 points getting it there. A linebacker has needs elsewhere IMO.

To prove my point I tweaked the AI for this game which just went off. Granted it wasn't with a ROLB but its my build and my AI.

My strength-depressed linebacker gets sacks

Well, its gonna have to be creative to nitpick this now . . .

I appreciate the PMs and thanks.

Question, since I have a Lvl 2 LB, I'm interested in knowing how to make him to a sacking LB like LT.

Slanger McCracker is LVL 13 and was unknowingly built pretty much like what is being talked about.

He's in a LVL 13 cap league and has 50 tackles and only 1 missed tackle in 3 games.

I take it no one knows the answer to that.

well you need plenty of speed and agility, I can tell you that much.

I'm a DC for my team, and I honestly don't blitz my LBs very often. I'd prefer them dropping into coverage because so many teams are passing a lot, and good QB's will throw to the open receiver every time if you start blitzing and leaving people open. I'm sure there are teams that get a lot of sacks from their LB, but I haven't had any success with it. They always get "stuck" at the O-Line, and then someone gets left open in coverage, so it becomes pointless. It might be because my team's LB's just aren't fast enough.
